Legendary Inter Milan midfielder Esteban Cambiasso sides with Simone Inzaghi who was on the receiving end of some chastisement following the Serie A contest against Monza.
The Nerazzurri manager opted to drop some key players like Nicolo Barella and Hakan Calhanoglu last weekend.
That’s because the contest against Monza was followed by a Champions League showdown against Manchester City and the Derby della Madonnina.
So when the Nerazzurri settled for a 1-1 draw in Brianza, Inzaghi came under fire for his team selection.
Yesterday, Inter rebounded with a solid display at the Etihad Stadium. They earned a valuable draw against Manchester City in their first Champions League fixture of the season.
Hence, Cambiasso noted that Inzaghi benched some of his best players like Lautaro Martinez and Benjamin Pavard against the English champions as well.
Therefore, the Argentine feels the Nerazzurri coach deserves more respect.
“When we talk about Inter, we have to be fair,” said the treble hero during his appearance on Sky Sport Italia via FcInterNews.
“Even today, if we analyze the starting eleven, how many of them would have started had this been the Champions League final?
“Inter rotated against City as well. So should we berate the team for a possible rotation against Monza, but not against City?

“This year it will happen continuously. In the end, the quality of the players will make it hard for us to tell who are the starters,” argued the 44-year-old.
“During my playing day, I kept asking myself the same question: ‘Would they pick me as a starter in a Champions League final?’
“So If today, Inter were playing the final, which eleven would they start with?”.
