This evening’s derby between Inter Milan and AC Milan will set a new record for gate receipt earnings in Serie A .
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They report that the Nerazzurri will earn around €7 million from gate receipts.
This evening, Inter host Milan in the first of two derby matches between the two city rivals in Serie A this season.
Of course, the match is only nominally a “home” fixture in that it will take place at the San Siro.
But Inter will officially be the home side. That means that the majority of the fans in the stadium will be Nerazzurri supporters.
And it also means that Inter have taken care of ticket sales for the derby clash.
Therefore, the Nerazzurri will be the ones who bring in the spoils as far as gate receipt earnings.
Inter Vs AC Milan Derby To Set Serie A Gate Receipt Record
Not surprisingly, this evening’s match will be a huge earner for Inter.
Naturally, the derby is always one of the matches from which either the Nerazzurri or the Rossoneri can expect to pocket significant revenues from tickets.
That was made particularly clear in the spring of 2023.
In May of that season, Inter and Milan faced off in the semifinals of the Champions League.
That meant two massive matches at the San Siro. The figures that both Inter and Milan brought in in terms of gate receipt earnings for the two legs of that tie exceeded €10 million apiece.
This time around, being a league match, the figures won’t be quite that high.
But the Gazzetta report that Inter will earn over €7 million in gate receipts alone from this evening’s match.
And that is enough to set at least one record.
This evening’s derby will be the highest gate receipt earnings for a single match in Serie A history.
