Striker Mehdi Taremi could start for Inter Milan in this evening’s Serie A derby against AC Milan.
This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews.
Inter coach Inzaghi is just about ready to make his team selection for the derby this evening.
Clearly, the Nerazzurri coach’s mind will not be on squad rotation.
The only priority for Inzaghi will be to get the strongest lineup available – or something close to it – on the pitch.
There are not many doubts for the coach.
On the right flank, Denzel Dumfries looks to be the favourite to start. However, Matteo Darmian could get the nod yet again.
On the left flank, Federico Dimarco is back from injury yet again. There is little doubt that the Italian international will therefore start.
Then in midfield and defense, it will be the “first-choice” trios.
Even with impressive performances by Piotr Zielinski and Yann Bisseck against Manchester CIty, they’ll make way for Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Benjamin Pavard respectively.
Mehdi Taremi Could Start For Inter Vs AC Milan In Derby
According to Tuttosport, however, there is still a doubt in attack for Inzaghi.
The newspaper reports that there is no doubt that Nerazzurri captain Lautaro Martinez will return to the lineup after starting on the bench against City on Wednesday.
But the notable change could be that Marcus Thuram drops out of the starting eleven.
Thuram has started every one of Inter’s matches so far this season.
However, with the Frenchman having started against both Monza and Manchester City, there could be one or two doubts about his freshness for this evening’s match.
Taremi started against City. But he did not start against Monza last weekend.
Moreover, the Iranian is a player who Inter have brought in to be more than just a backup or deputy option.
Therefore, if Inzaghi deems Taremi to be fitter and sharper than Thuram, he could very well partner Martinez rather than the Frenchman.
