Inter Milan and Denzel Dumfries have reportedly reached full agreement over the player’s contract extension,
This accord should put an end to one of the longest ongoing contract sagas at Appiano Gentile.
The Dutchman has been at the club since the summer of 2021 when he arrived as a direct replacement for Achraf Hakimi who joined PSG at the time.
The 28-year-old gradually cemented himself as a regular starter in Simone Inzaghi’s plans. However, his contract situation left his future at the club shrouded in mystery.
Dumfries’ current deal will expire at the end of the season.
Therefore, news sources had linked the wingback with the likes of Aston Villa and Man United over the past months.
Nevertheless, the Nerazzurri management finally succeeded in finding a breakthrough with the player’s entourage.
This paved the way for the player’s stay last summer, with the club no longer desperate to sell him.
According to Sky Sport Italia journalist Matteo Barzaghi (via Gianlucadimarzio.com), the two parties have now reached a full agreement over the renewal.
The source thus describes the operation as a done deal.
