Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi will reportedly launch a new-look midfield on Saturday’s encounter against Udinese.
The Nerazzurri will be looking to bounce back following their defeat at the hands of their crosstown rivals AC Milan in last weekend’s Derby della Madonnina.
The reigning Italian champions wouldn’t want to drop points for the third Serie A fixture in a row.
Therefore, Inzaghi is looking to ring the changes in his starting lineup, especially in the middle of the park.
With Nicolo Barella out with an injury, at least one of the changes is mandatory.
Davide Frattesi and Piotr Zielinski are the natural candidates to replace the Sardinian star.
But according to La Gazzetta dello Sport via FcInterNews, Inzaghi could also decide to drop Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
The Armenian veteran was an essential pawn in the manager’s tactical system last season, linking the midfield with the attack.
However, the 35-year-old hasn’t yet found his optimal form, so he’s no longer deemed an automatic starter.
Therefore, the pink newspaper tips both Frattesi and Zielinski to break into the starting lineup.
Inter Milan Midfield Vs Udinese To Feature Zielinski, Frattesi & Calhanoglu
This would see them start alongside Hakan Calhanoglu in a newly unveiled trio.
Moreover, Zielinski would thus earn his first start in Serie A with the Nerazzurri jersey.
The Pole’s solitary start this campaign came during the Champions League showdown against Manchester City last week.
The 30-year-old produced a good display at the Etihad Stadium, making a strong case for himself for a regular berth, especially with Barella injured and Mkhitaryan struggling for form.
