Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi is planning to start a new experiment and adopt a new strategy following the Derby della Madonnina defeat.
The Italian champions entered last weekend’s clash as the clear favorites to prevail over the struggling AC Milan.
Nevertheless, it was the Rossoneri who emerged victorious thanks to Matteo Gabbia’s late winner.
The result and the feeble performance that accompanied it earned the Nerazzurri some backlash.
While the tiredness resulting from the previous Champions League showdown against Man City might partially explain the unconvincing display, it might not be enough of an alibi on its own.
So according to La Gazzetta dello Sport via FcInterNews, Inzaghi is ready to rock the boat.
As the pink newspaper tells it, no player will hold an automatic starting spot in the 48-year-old’s system any longer. Every player will have to earn a starting spot through good performances on the pitch.
This even applies to the likes of Lautaro Martinez, Marcus Thuram, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Benjamin Pavard.
These four players were almost omnipresent in the starting lineup last season. However, they have been blowing hot and cold this term.
Inter Milan Coach Simone Inzaghi To Drop All Pecking Orders
Hence, Inzaghi will continue to rotate his lineups, as has been the case since his return from the international break.
But now, the lines between the regular starters and those who serve as backups will be increasingly blurring.
As the source explains, the manager is seeking immediate answers from his squad, especially amidst the packed schedule.
The Nerazzurri will be negotiating a trough trip to Udine this weekend. Afterwards, more daunting tasks await them, including clashes against current league leaders Torino, Roma and Juventus.
So it remains to be seen if Inzaghi’s new experiment will yield a positive outcome or end up backfiring.
