Inter Milan captain Lautaro Martinez feels that the Nerazzurri are “getting back to last season’s level” after their Serie A win over Udinese.
The Nerazzurri captain spoke to Italian broadcaster DAZN, via FCInterNews, after the 3-2 victory.
Inter got back to winning ways at the Bluenergy Arena in Friuli this evening.
It was an up-and-down evening for the Nerazzurri, who needed three goals to ensure three points.
But in the end, Inter got the job done to get the result they needed.
Inter scored very early on in the match through midfielder Davide Frattesi.
However, some sloppy defending allowed former Watford defender Christian Kabasele to equalize for the Friulani.
Then, Inter captain Martinez scored twice either side of halftime to put his team in a commanding position.
A late goal from substitute Lorenzo Lucca made the closing stages very nervy ones for the Nerazzurri. But they held on for the result.
Inter Captain Lautaro Martinez: “We’re Getting Back To Last Season’s Level” After Udinese Win
After the end of the match which saw Inter have to hang on, Martinez admitted that “We had to suffer a bit.”
“This is always a difficult away ground for us,” he added.
“But after the derby, we worked a lot and didn’t talk much. It showed on the pitch.”
Meanwhile, the Inter captain also opened up about getting back on the scoresheet after having failed to do so this season prior to this season.
“It’s certainly important,” Martinez admitted.
“As a striker you’re always looking for the goal.”
“But I work for the team first. And then if I score, all the better.”
“We still have to work to take Inter even higher,” Martinez said.
“We need the right attitude,” the Inter captain said. “Always work hard and stay humble.”
“That’s what we have to show, we have to raise the level to last season, every day, and make Inter grow.”
