Midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu has received some criticism for not being at his usual standards for Inter Milan against Udinese yesterday.
The Turkish international received a score of just 5.5/10 in the player ratings for the match in today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews.
Midfielder Calhanoglu started in his usual role at the base of Inter’s midfield yesterday evening.
The Turkish international has become a central part of how the Nerazzurri player.
Calhanoglu tends to be the player who really sets the tone for Inter, both in and out of possession, as the holding midfielder or regista in the midfield trio.
Hakan Calhanoglu Criticized For Below Par Performance In Inter Win Vs Udinese
Against Udinese, though, Calhanoglu was not really the driving force in midfield that he often is.
It was Henrikh Mkhitaryan who really gave Inter their composure and set the tempo.
And Davide Frattesi, making his second start of the campaign for Inter, was the player who gave Inter their direct and incisive attacking play through midfield.
Inter relied more on holding onto the ball rather than Calhanoglu’s passing game. Frattesi pushed forward whenever possible.
And as far as the defensive side of the game, Calhanoglu had one major error.
The former AC Milan and Bayer Leverkusen midfielder looked hapless as Udinese striker Lorenzo Lucca bypassed him to score his team’s second goal and set up a grandstand finish.
Meanwhile, Tuttosport also gave a score of just 5.5/10 to defender Yann Bisseck.
The German got the chance in the starting eleven in place of Benjamin Pavard.
However, it was not the most composed performance from Bisseck.
Unlike in his virtually faultless display against Manchester City in the Champions League. the 23-year-old made a few notable errors.
Most significantly, Bisseck lost the run of Udinese defender Christian Kabasele in the Friulani’s equalizer.
