Striker Mehdi Taremi will start for Inter Milan in tomorrow’s Champions League match against Red Star Belgrade.
This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
Taremi has made two starts for Inter so far this season.
The 32-year-old, who joined Inter from Porto over the summer, has started against Lecce in Serie A and Manchester City in the Champions League.
Taremi has yet to get his first goal for the Nerazzurri.
However, the Iranian international did bag an assist against Lecce.
And moreover, Taremi certainly put a big feather in his cap with his performance against City.
Inter took a hard-fought point away from Manchester, a result they’ll have been quite happy with considering the stature of the opposition.
And Taremi played his role in that result.
The Iranian did a lot to win the trust of Nerazzurri coach SImone Inzaghi with the way that he led the line for Inter. First alongside Marcus Thuram, and then Lautaro Martinez.
Mehdi Taremi To Start For Inter Vs Red Star Belgrade In Champions League
According to the Gazzetta, there is no doubt that Taremi will once again get the nod in the Champions League.
Inter coach Inzaghi is ready to rotate a fair bit between matches. Including between domestic and European fixtures.
And having a striker like Taremi is certainly a big asset in this respect.
The 32-year-old has demonstrated the versatility to play alongside either Thuram or Martinez.
And therefore, Inzaghi will feel that he can give one of that regular starting duo a rest without seeing the level of the attack drop.
The Gazzetta anticipate that it will likely be Thuram who drops out.
The Frenchman has started every one of Inter’s matches to date this season. But he’ll get the opportunity to catch his breath tomorrow.
But one thing is certain – Taremi will start.
