Inter Milan midfielder Nicolo Barella is ready to return to training, and is targeting a return to peak condition to face Juventus.
This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews. They report that it’s not yet certain whether or not the 27-year-old will start against Roma next weekend.
27-year-old Italian international Barella has spent the international break recovering from a thigh injury.
The problem for Barella is a strain to the rectus femoris muscle of his right thigh. He suffered the injury during the derby against AC Milan last month, where he started but had to come off during the second half.
Barella missed three matches in total for Inter so far. He was out against Udinese and Torino in Serie A, as well as Red Star Belgrade in the Champions League.
Meanwhile, Barella was not called up to the Italy squad for the break, due to his injury.
The target for Barella has always been to be back fit in time for Inter’s return from the international break.

And Barella’s recovery has been right on track.
The former Cagliari midfielder has been working individually to recover his fitness over the first week of the international break.
And next Tuesday, Barella will be all ready to return to training with the rest of the Inter squad.
Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi has given his players a couple of days off from training.
But on Tuesday when the squad is back, Barella will be among them.
That will give the 27-year-old a few days to training ahead of Inter’s next match. They face Roma away in Serie A in their return from the break.
Barella will have plenty of time to get back to his best ahead of that match.
But it is still not certain whether Inzaghi will give Barella the nod against the Giallorossi.
On the other hand, Tuttosport note, Inter face Juventus in the Derby d’Italia the following weekend.
And there is no doubt that Inzaghi will want Barella in the lineup for that match. Therefore, the aim is for him to get to his absolute best over the next two weeks.
