Inter Milan will continue their Serie A title defense on Sunday with a mouth-watering encounter against a resurgent Roma side.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, as reported by FCInterNews, Simone Inzaghi’s men reconvened on Tuesday morning in Appiano Gentile for a regular training session.
Following a two-week hiatus from club football, the 20-time Italian champions are back to business.
The Nerazzurri strung together a three-game winning streak across all competitions heading into October’s international break.
Indeed, Torino were the last team to fall victim to Inter’s return to form on the stroke of the pause.
Marcus Thuram’s first-ever Serie A hat-trick inspired the reigning Scudetto holders to a 3-2 win at Giuseppe Meazza.
As a result of their fourth victory in seven league outings, Inter entered the break in second, two points adrift of Napoli.
But more importantly, Inzaghi’s men regained form after a stuttering start.
The Inter boss can only hope two weeks of inactivity won’t hamper his team’s resurgence.
Inter Milan Resume Preparations For Roma Clash Without 11 International Absentees
Inter resumed their warm-up proceedings for the upcoming trip to the Stadio Olimpico on Tuesday morning.
However, the international break left Inzaghi with bare bones.
As many as 11 first-team stars weren’t present at the team’s gathering in Appiano Gentile.
Stefan de Vrij, Denzel Dumfries, Alessandro Bastoni, Federico Dimarco, Davide Frattesi, Kristjan Asllani, Marcus Thuram, and Hakan Calhanoglu should be back by tomorrow morning.
However, Inzaghi will have to wait a while longer for the returns of Piotr Zielinski, Lautaro Martinez, and Mehdi Taremi.
On the bright side, star midfielder Nicolo Barella has regained full fitness.
The diminutive midfielder could start Sunday’s fixture after returning to training.
Barella has been out of action for nearly a month after suffering an ankle injury against AC Milan on September 22.
But he’s ready to shine again.
