Inter Milan superstar Lautaro Martinez has outlined his Ballon d’Or ambition after winning his second Scudetto in 2023/24.
During a brief interview with TyC Sports, as reported by FCInterNews, the Argentine forward labeled last season as ‘spectacular,’ admitting winning the most prestigious individual award would be great.
Lautaro Martinez was the point of difference last season as the Nerazzurri steamrolled to their first Serie A title under Simone Inzaghi.
Inter left runners-up AC Milan 19 points behind en route to a landmark 20th Scudetto.
And the 27-year-old was arguably the most decisive figure.
During his most prolific Serie A campaign since arriving from Racing Club in 2018, Martinez bagged 24 goals in 33 league appearances.
His outstanding scoring exploits earned him a flattering Capocanninere award.
Following a league-winning season at Giuseppe Meazza, the highly-rated center-forward enjoyed a phenomenal 2024 Copa America.
Indeed, with five goals, he won the Golden Boot as Argentina defended the title in the United States.

After a remarkable campaign, Martinez has emerged as a potential dark horse in the Ballon d’Or race.
Despite lagging behind Real Madrid duo Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Junior, the Inter star doesn’t lose hope.
“I will go to the award ceremony with my wife, with the hope as always,” he said.
“I always say that the collective is above the individual.
“But I think last season was spectacular with Inter and I finished it with the Scudetto and five goals in the Copa America with the national team.
“Analyzing everything, I think I’m there. I don’t want to say that I deserve it, but I’m happy and I hope so.
“We’ll see what happens that night.”
Martinez has not been at his best this season.
He has only scored twice in six Serie A outings.
