The Inter Milan squad is rounding into form as a group ahead of their Serie A return, but Marcus Thuram remains the talisman.

This is the view in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They report on the mood in training a few days before the Nerazzurri face Roma.

The international break is nearly over for Inter.

The Nerazzurri have been away from Serie A action for a couple of weeks.

Many of Inter’s players stayed back during the break. But quite a few key players have been away on international duty.

Now, however, the squad is all back.

And Inter coach Simone Inzaghi is pleased with what he’s seeing from his squad at this crucial point before the team get back on the pitch starting this weekend.

There are a couple of worries and doubts related to fitness in Inter’s squad.

There have been injury worries for the likes of Piotr Zielinski and Kristjan Asllani during the break.

And then there is the fact that Nicolo Barella is just coming back from a thigh injury. The 27-year-old is back in full training, but there remain one or two doubts about rust in his form.

Then, Canadian international Tajon Buchanan is not yet back in training even though he has fully recovered from a leg break.

But these doubts aside, Inzaghi feels that Inter are right where they need to be.

Physically and mentally, the Nerazzurri coach has been trying to keep his squad on a path of growth and increasing momentum since the start of the campaign.

And with the matches heating up in the coming weeks, Inter’s squad looks in form.

But according to the Gazzetta, there remains one man who still looks to be the x-factor for Inter.

That is striker Marcus Thuram. The Frenchman has scored an eye-watering seven goals already in Serie A this season.

And according to the Gazzetta, despite a minor injury scare, Thuram continues to look like he can be the player who unlocks matches and gets the decisive goals for Inter in the weeks to come.
