Nicolo Barella is favourite over Davide Frattesi to start for Inter Milan in tomorrow evening’s Serie A match against Roma.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

Italian international midfielder Frattesi has had his chance in the Inter starting eleven in the absence of Barella.

The latter missed Inter’s three matches before the international break. This was due to a thigh injury that he had picked up in the derby against AC Milan.

Frattesi started against Udinese in Serie A, and then Torino. Both of these matches ended in 3-2 victories for Inter.

Frattesi was decisive against Udinese in particular.

The 25-year-old scored Inter’s early opener, and then played a big role in the Nerazzurri winning control of the midfield battle.

But now Barella is back.

The 27-year-old former Cagliari midfielder has spent the international break working his way back to fitness.

This week, Barella made his return to full training with the rest of the squad.

Nicolo Barella To Start For Inter Vs Roma Over Davide Frattesi

Barella’s return gives Inter coach Simone Inzaghi a bit of a dilemma.

The Nerazzurri coach will certainly be keen to get 27-year-old back into the starting eleven as soon as possible.

However, on the other hand, Inzaghi could also want to reward Frattesi with another start.

The 25-year-old has had another impressive international break with Italy as well. His inclusion would certainly be deserved if Inzaghi decides to give him the nod.

But according to the Corriere, it is still Barella who is the favourite to start against Roma.

Inzaghi will go with Barella in the midfield trio alongside Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Hakan Calhanoglu.

The Corriere’s complete predicted Inter starting eleven for tomorrow’s match is as follows:

Inter (3-5-2): Sommer; Pavard, Acerbi, Bastoni; Darmian, Barella, Calhanoglu, Mkhitaryan, Dimarco; Lautaro, Thuram.
