The city of Milan have set a deadline for Inter Milan and AC Milan to complete a purchase of the land around the San Siro.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Corriere della Sera, via FCInterNews. They report that the deadline would be next summer.

At the moment, Inter and Milan are exploring the idea of building a stadium adjacent to the San Siro.

The clubs cannot tear down the existing stadium to make way for a new facility.

And Inter and Milan have rejected the idea of staying at the San Siro, even with major renovations.

But that doesn’t mean that the Nerazzurri and the Rossoneri couldn’t stay in the area.

The idea would be for the two clubs to build a new, modern stadium in the area just beside the existing San Siro.

Then the iconic stadium would remain in use for other purposes. It could also be part of a broader commercial development in the area.

Summer 2025 – Deadline For Inter & AC Milan To Buy San Siro Land

As of yet, Inter and Milan have yet to firmly commit to the idea of building a stadium in the San Siro area.

The Rossoneri in particularly are still considering the idea of building in the commune of San Donato instead.

In any event, the clubs have not given the city a formal statement of interest.

But the two clubs cannot hem and haw forever.

If Inter and Milan are to build a new stadium in the San Siro they would have to purchase the land from the city.

Historically, the clubs have just rented the San Siro from the city.

The city’s revenue agency has already reportedly evaluated a price.

And the city are waiting to see whether Inter and Milan decide to go ahead with a purchase of the land.

There is also the fact that an injunction against tearing down the third tier of the San Siro comes into effect next summer.

And according to the Corriere della Sera, the city have set that as a deadline for Inter and Milan. The city want clarity about the club’s intentions by that point.

Therefore, the Nerazzurri and the Rossoneri must buy the land by the summer of 2025 if they’re to buy it at all.
