Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi feels that Napoli coach Antonio Conte has done an excellent job giving the Partenopei a new identity.
The Nerazzurri coach spoke to InterTV ahead of tomorrow’s top-of-the-table Serie A clash with the Partenopei, via FCInterNews.
Tomorrow evening, Inter will be coming up against a very familiar face in the form of Antonio Conte.
Conte was coach of the Nerazzurri between 2019 and 2021. He had previously been at the helm of Juventus and Chelsea, among others.
Inzaghi was the coach to replace Conte after the latter departed from Inter in the summer of 2021. And the former Lazio coach has remained in his position ever since.
There have been a few meetings between Inzaghi and Conte already.
All of these came when the former was coaching Lazio, and the latter Inter.
But tomorrow evening will be the first time that Inzaghi and Conte meet since Inzaghi took over as Inter coach. And it will be Conte’s first meeting with his former side.
Simone Inzaghi Praises Antonio Conte For Work As Napoli Coach
Inter coach Inzaghi anticipated that “Tomorrow will be a brilliant match.”
“We’re coming up against the team who are top of the table.”
“Conte has given them great organization,” the Inter coach was full of praise for his Napoli opposite number.
“And they’re a team who were already very strong and have a lot of quality.”
“It will require the best version of Inter in front of our fans to beat them,” Inzaghi said.
The Inter coach noted that “We’ve had three days to recover from Wednesday’s match.”
Inter beat Arsenal in the Champions League in midweek.
“We’re preparing for it well.”
Inzaghi noted that “Napoli have only conceded against Verona away from home, we know the quality that they have.”
“We know that the details will make the difference. We’re going to have to stay organized to make sure we don’t lack anything.”
And as far as the title race with Napoli, Inzaghi argued that “It’s too early to talk about favourites.”
“There are still a lot of matches left to go. But we know that this will be an important match to show our progress.”
“It will also be the last match before the international break,” Inzaghi noted.
“We want to have a great send-off, keeping in mind as well that we’re up against a top side.”
