Simone Inzaghi is making the most out of Inter Milan’s deep squad between matches against Arsenal and Napoli.
This is highlighted in today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
Inter will long have circled this week on their calendar as a particularly tough one.
On Wednesday, the Nerazzurri took on Premier League giants Arsenal in the Champions League.
And then tomorrow, Inter will face Napoli in a top-of-the-table Serie A clash.
To make matters worse, these two matches are the last two in a seven-match sequence in the space of just three weeks between the October and November international break.
Inter coach Inzaghi has also had to cope without some big names due to injury.
Inzaghi Makes The Most Out Of Deep Inter Squad Between Arsenal & Napoli Clashes
Considering all of this, it was a surprise to see Inzaghi pick something like a first-choice Inter starting eleven against Venezia last Sunday.
The Nerazzurri coach certainly wasn’t thinking about rotating his team in view of the Arsenal and Napoli matches.
Inter did win that match 1-0, although it was far from an easy match against the relegation-battlers.
Against Arsenal, though, there was plenty of rotation.
All of Alessandro Bastoni, Francesco Acerbi, Federico Dimarco, Nicolo Barella, and Marcus Thuram were left out of Inter’s starting eleven.
But Inter once again managed a 1-0 victory in that massive Champions League match.
But tomorrow against Napoli, all signs point to Inzaghi naming a “first-choice” starting eleven once again.
The Inter coach made a bold gamble by leaving so many big names out against Arsenal.
But players like Bastoni, Dimarco, Barella, and Thuram will certainly be back in the lineup.
And it is increasingly looking like so will Acerbi.
Inzaghi is hoping that he can have a team that looks just as fresh as the one that faced Arsenal.
