Francesco Acerbi will start for Inter Milan in today’s Serie A clash with Napoli, with only one possible doubt in the starting eleven.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They report that the right flank is the final question in terms of the Inter lineup.

Defender Acerbi has been out of action for a few weeks.

The 36-year-old Italian international suffered a thigh injury during Inter’s Serie A match against Roma.

Acerbi had started that match. However, he was only able to see out the first thirty minutes or so.

Acerbi has actually been back fit and available for more than a week.

The former Lazio and Sassuolo defender has been part of matchday squads for wins over Venezia in Serie A and Arsenal in the Champions League.

However, Inter coach Simone Inzaghi has opted for Stefan de Vrij in the starting eleven for those matches.

But Inzaghi is ready to give Acerbi the nod this evening.

Acerbi’s fellow former Biancocelesti defender de Vrij has done a more than adequate job of holding down the fort in the 36-year-old’s absence.

The Dutchman particularly impressed with his display against Arsenal.

However, Inzaghi has been keeping Acerbi fresh with an eye on this evening’s match.

And there is no doubt about it, reports the Gazzetta. The Italian international will come back into the starting eleven for the first time since last month’s match against Roma.

There is one single potential doubt that has continued in Inzaghi’s mind, the newspaper reports.

That is between Denzel Dumfries and Matteo Darmian on the right flank.

But according to the Gazzetta, Inzaghi is strongly leaning towards the Dutchman.

Dumfries will start at right-wingback, keeping his place from Wednesday’s win over Arsenal.
