Inter Milan are accelerating their attempts to launch their own U23, and several of their youngsters would reap the benefits of this project.
In 2018, Juventus were the first Italian club to unveil a B-team and register it in Serie C. This idea has now caught fire, with Atalanta and AC Milan following suit.
As reported yesterday, Inter could become the next in line. The management is already laying the foundation for the launching of the second team.
This could ensue as early as next season if the Nerazzurri can find an available slot in Serie C.
As Tuttosport (via FcInterNews) notes, the second team could allow several young Nerazzurri prospects to earn valuable professional experience.
At the moment, Inter must either send their talented youngsters away on loan, or keep them with the Primavera side (U20).
Therefore, a U23 side that plays in Serie C would grant these players the opportunity to remain at the club while playing professional football, albeit in the lower divisions.
The Turin-based newspaper thus enlists some of the youngsters who could take advantage of this project.
Inter Milan Players Who Could Reap The Benefits Of U23 Squad
The source begins by naming a couple of teenagers who might be too good for the Primavera. These are Thomas Berenbruch, a talented young Italian midfielder, and Italo-Ghanian right-back Mike Aidoo.
As the source tells it, this project would allow the club to maintain these talented youngsters. That is instead of being forced to sell them.
Moreover, players like Issiaka Kamate, Aleksandar Stankovic, Ebenezer Akinsanmiro and Franco Carboni would be able to join the Inter U23 ranks.
That is when they return from their respective loan spells in the summer.
