Inter Milan midfielder Nicolo Barella is unlikely to feature in Italy’s UEFA Nations League match against France after picking up a minor injury.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, and via FCInterNews.it, Barella complained of a muscular problem in his right thigh and will be evaluated by medical staff.

The former Cagliari man is expected to be rested for the match at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza tomorrow in an effort to avoid further injury, after suffering the knock in the Azzurri’s 1-0 win over Belgium on Thursday.

With Italy securing passage to the quarter-finals of the Nations League, coach Luciano Spalletti can afford to rotate his options but is expected to avoid wholesale changes as he seeks to win Group B.

Italy must avoid defeat by more than a single goal against France to top the group and so Spalletti is thought to be preparing a strong starting line-up with some changes.

Moise Kean and Giacomo Raspadori are likely to lead the attack, whilst Inter wing-back Federico Dimarco may be rested in favour of Destiny Udogie.
