Inter Milan will consider an approach for Liverpool’s Italian international winger Federico Chiesa after a difficult start to life in the Premier League, according to Italian journalist Alfio Musmarra.

Chiesa was high on Inter’s list of targets in the summer after Juventus made him available ahead of the final year of his contract, and despite interest from the Nerazzurri and Roma, Liverpool ultimately signed him at a cost of €12 million.

Taking to Instagram, and as reported by FCInter1908.it, Musmarra revealed that Inter had been in contact with Chiesa’s representatives with a view to a possible return to Serie A.

However, no agreement had been reached and it remained to be seen whether Liverpool could be convinced to move the former Fiorentina forward on so soon after signing him.

The Italy international has only made one Premier League appearance this season and has been blighted by injury issues in recent years, whilst he has not been able to force his way into the plans of new coach Arne Slot.

Chiesa has also featured once in the League Cup and made a solitary appearance in the Champions League for Liverpool.
