Inter Milan are still interested in signing Italy international winger Federico Chiesa, but it would depend on Liverpool being willing to cut their losses, according to Italian journalist Marco Barzaghi.
Speaking on his own YouTube channel, and as reported by FCInter1908.it, Barzaghi claimed that the Nerazzurri had not given up on bringing Chiesa to the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza after pursuing him in the summer.
Chiesa had fallen out of favour at Juventus and was linked with Inter and Roma, before Premier League club Liverpool swooped in to sign him on a €12 million deal, but Chiesa’s fitness issues have limited him to just a single appearance.
With the Premier League leaders yet to be convinced by the former Fiorentina man, Barzaghi suggested that an opportunity could arise for Inter to sign him, but they would not want to pay the €12m that Liverpool forked out and are seeking a loan.
“We have verified that there is contact between Chiesa and Inter, as reported by my colleague Alfio Musmarra,” Barzaghi said.
“The Nerazzurri are continuing to observe him and to understand his problems at Liverpool.
“Inter are not willing to take any risks though and would take him on loan for six months, with an option to buy at less than the €12m the Reds paid.
“It is all dependent on moving on Joaquin Correa, tracked by Torino, Marko Arnautovic, or both.”
Chiesa joined Juventus from Fiorentina in 2020 but his time in Turin was marred by injuries, limiting him to just 131 appearances.
