Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi could turn to Mehdi Taremi to lead the attack in the upcoming Serie A match against Hellas Verona, with Lautaro Martinez missing out.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, and via FCInter1908.it, the Iran international may be handed a starting spot for the trip to the Stadio Marcantonio Bentegodi on Saturday, in the first league game after the international break.

Martinez is not due back from international duty with Argentina until Thursday, and is likely to feature as the 2022 World Cup winners face Peru late on Tuesday night, so his physical condition will be assessed upon his return.

The former Racing Club striker had seen a dip in form but netted for Argentina against Paraguay last time out, and it is hoped that his confidence has now been reignited.

However, with only two training sessions available before the match against Verona, Martinez may be rested and Inzaghi will instead give summer arrival Taremi an opportunity to impress.
