Inter Milan goalkeeper Josep Martinez has his eyes set on a long-awaited debut for the Nerazzurri, with the new signing likely to feature in the Coppa Italia next month.

As reported by Quotidianosportivo, and via L’Interista.it, the summer arrival will be given a chance to stake a claim in the first team when Inter take on Udinese in their first Coppa Italia match of the season on December 19.

Martinez was signed in a big money move after a hugely impressive season with Genoa last term but has thus far failed to dislodge regular custodian Yann Sommer, leading to a frustrating first few months at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

Indeed, the Spaniard, who cost €13.5 million and was one of Inter’s major arrivals ahead of the campaign, has been forced to watch on as veteran Sommer continues to impress.

Meanwhile, the match against Udinese may also see Tomas Palacios given an opportunity in defence, with the summer signing from Talleres only featuring once this season.
