Inter Milan are keeping a close eye on Union Berlin defender Danilho Doekhi ahead of a potential transfer for him in the summer.

As reported by FCInter1908.it, the Nerazzurri are looking for a new centre-back as they only intend to retain one of Francesco Acerbi and Stefan De Vrij, with the most likely candidate being the former.

De Vrij’s contract is due to expire in the summer and Inter have already begun work on sounding out a replacement, with Jonathan Tah, Isak Hien, and Jaka Bijol all under consideration.

However, Dutchman Doekhi is now emerging as one of the strongest candidates after an impressive season in the Bundesliga, in which Union Berlin are challenging for a top six position after narrowly avoiding relegation last term.

Communications between Inter and the Netherlands Under-21 international’s representatives have already begun and it believed that Doekhi is currently valued at €15 million.

That price tag is expected to rise should he continue his strong form though, and it is likely that he will attract interest from elsewhere across Europe next summer.
