Inter Milan have a clear pathway in mind for teenager striker Francesco Pio Esposito after a free-scoring start to the season with Spezia.
Today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, report that the Nerazzurri intend for Pio Esposito to play in Serie A next season.
Teenage striker Pio Esposito has been on loan at Spezia this season.
The 19-year-old had also spent last campaign on loan with the Ligurian club.
Esposito had a positive season last time out. He gained his first regular experience at senior level after impressing with Inter at various youth levels.
However, last season was not a prolific one for Esposito. He contributed more in terms of his holdup play than goals.
This time around has been a different story, however. Esposito has already scored five goals since the start of the season, more than the entirety of last time out.
This represents another big step for Esposito within the senior game.
There is a real sense that the 19-year-old striker is making good on the potential that has always been obvious within Inter’s youth academy system,

Over the summer, there was some interest in Esposito’s signature from within Serie A.
Torino in particular pushed to try and sign the 19-year-old.
However, in the end Esposito instead returned to Spezia in Serie B for another loan deal.
The decision was based on the idea that the most important thing for Esposito’s growth was continuity in a familiar environment.
And that reasoning appears to have paid off with the teenager’s strong start to the campaign.
But Esposito cannot play in the second division forever.
Considering the growth that he has shown this campaign, Inter’s idea is to have Esposito playing in Serie A as early as next season.
This could be with Spezia. The Ligurians are currently pushing for promotion back to the top flight.
That would certainly be ideal for Esposito. The Inter-owned striker could continue to play with the same team and make the jump up to Serie A along with them.
But even if Spezia are to miss out on promotion, Inter will still loan Esposito out to a different top flight team, reports Tuttosport.
