Inter Milan strikers Marko Arnautovic and Joaquin Correa are vying for a rare start in tomorrow’s Serie A clash with Hellas Verona.
This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews. They report that Marcus Thuram is guaranteed to start the match, but that the other attacking slot is wide open.
Inter coach Simone Inzaghi will have decisions to make in tomorrow’s Serie A match away to Verona.
The Nerazzurri are returning from the international break. And they are heading straight back into a packed fixture list which sees them play more or less twice per week.
Therefore, Inter coach Inzaghi will have to strike the right balance in terms of squad rotation.
The coach will want to play a strong team tomorrow. It is vital that Inter return with three points in order to set the right tone in the title race.
But at the same time, there is a slew of important matches in both the league and the Champions League right around the corner.
Inzaghi will be thinking about keeping key players fresh for the matches to come.
Arnautovic & Correa Vying For Starting Spot In Hellas Verona Vs Inter Clash
According to Sky, there is no doubt that striker Marcus Thuram will start for Inter tomorrow.
The Frenchman has been a fixture in the Nerazzurri starting eleven this season.
And Inter coach Inzaghi will once again rely on Thuram as he goes in search of three points tomorrow.
But as far as who starts alongside the Frenchman, there is a big doubt, reports Sky.
Inter captain Lautaro Martinez could start. The Argentine is Thuram’s usual strike partner, and the pair comprise the Nerazzurri’s first-choice attacking duo on paper.
However, Martinez has made a fairly late return from international duty.
Inzaghi will be mindful of not burning the captain out with so many matches to come.
Meanwhile, Iranian international Mehdi Taremi would also be very much an option.
However, Sky reports, both former West Ham United and Bologna striker Marko Aranutovic, and former Lazio and Sevilla forward Joaquin Correa are also genuine contenders to start.
Neither Arnautovic nor Correa have played all that much for Inter this season.
But Arnautovic returned to training from the international break earlier than Martinez or Taremi.
And Correa actually stayed behind and trained with the rest of the Inter squad.
Therefore, both the Austrian and Argentine strikers are relatively fresh. And that could be a decisive factor in Inzaghi’s decision.
Meanwhile, whichever strikers do not start would still have every chance of coming off the bench tomorrow.
Inzaghi would be very much ready to use his full squad at his disposal.
