Joaquin Correa and Marcus Thuram both dazzled as Inter Milan put five goals past Hellas Verona in Serie A.

Today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, name the pair as the Nerazzurri’s two outstanding performers in the 5-0 win.

Correa and Thuram started as a strike partnership for the first time for Inter yesterday evening.

The two forwards are in very different situations at Inter.

French international Thuram is a key player in the Nerazzurri starting eleven. He may be blowing hot and cold in front of goal this season, but he is a key player in attack whether or not he scores.

On the other hand, Correa is in the fourth season of what’s proven to be a frustrating tenure at Inter.

But Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi decided to hand the former Lazio forward a chance to start yesterday.

And Correa grabbed it with both hands.

What was immediately apparent yesterday evening was that, even though Correa and Thuram were starting a match together for the first time, they have a strong understanding on the pitch.

The two Inter strikers led the line well, making space for each other and finding each other regularly.

That was clearly evident with Correa’s goal. The Argentine dummied the ball to Thuram, who deftly found his strike partner’s run.

And Correa finished perfectly to open the scoring. This on an afternoon where the 30-year-old also hit the crossbar twice and made two assists.

Meanwhile, Thuram showed his clinical best in front of goal, scoring twice.

The France international showed, above all, his coolness on both his goals.

On both occasions, Thuram was one-on-one with Verona keeper Lorenzo Montipo.

And the 27-year-old did not let Montipo put him off. He slotted the ball away on both occasions.
