Inter Milan legend Beppe Bergomi sees his beloved club as ‘experienced and strong’ amid an intense Scudetto tussle with Napoli.
In a brief interview during the ‘Beppe Viola’ Sports Culture Award ceremony via FCInterNews, Bergomi praised Italy internationals Mattia Zaccagni and Niccolo Pisilli.
“I’ve heard some meaningful insights, but we need to bring out humility in today’s young people,” he said.
“Pisilli and Zaccagni are the embodiment of this. Back in the day, fans would enter Appiano [Inter’s training ground] and stand right beside us.
“Young people are smarter than we were, and we need to understand this.”
Bergomi won three UEFA Cup trophies with Inter between 1991 and 1998.
On top of that, he helped the Nerazzurri conquer Serie A in 1989 and win two more domestic titles.
Therefore, he is competent to talk about the club’s lofty ambitions.
One of the priorities for Simone Inzaghi this season is to defend the Scudetto.
However, the competition is as fierce as it gets.

Despite a thumping 5-0 win at Hellas Verona on Saturday, Inter ended Gameweek 13 a point adrift of leaders Napoli.
Moreover, they’re level on points with three more sides, highlighting the competitive nature of this season’s Serie A title race.
But Bergomi has no doubt. He firmly believes in Inter’s mental fortitude and strength in depth.
“I think the teams playing in European competitions need to stay in contention until February,” Bergomi said.
“Some say it’s better to play in Europe, but for Conte in his first year, it’s better this way.
“Napoli are strong, with quality and great physicality. Other teams need to stay close; it’s all very open.
“Inter are a strong and experienced team with high-quality players in every position.”
Inter will briefly put their domestic adventure on hold to resume their UEFA Champions League adventure.
Inzaghi’s men will take on RB Leipzig later this evening.
