Yann Bisseck came off the bench to help Inter Milan see off RB Leipzig in a heavyweight UEFA Champions League fixture last night.

According to Tuttosport via FCInterNews, the 23-year-old defender lived up to the billing in another high-stakes showdown.

Bisseck has been in and out of Simone Inzaghi’s starting line-up this season.

However, his influence has been on the rise compared to his first season at the Giuseppe Meazza.

Indeed, the former Germany U-21 international is on course to become a permanent first-team fixture in Inzaghi’s system.

He was on the scoresheet as the Nerazzurri trounced Hellas Verona 5-0 at Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi last Saturday.

But he started last night’s meeting with Leipzig on the bench.

With a flexor injury forcing Benjamin Pavard off on the stroke of halftime, Inzaghi had to turn to Bisseck to fill the vacancy.

Pavard was Inzaghi’s first choice, slotting in alongside Alessandro Bastoni and Stefan de Vrij.

The latter swooped in for Francesco Acerbi, who limped off the pitch against Verona at the weekend.

De Vrij was exceptional, but Bisseck’s performance was equally impressive.

It was another testimony to the youngster’s significant growth at Inter.

However, it’s fair to say every piece of Inzaghi’s defensive jigsaw rose to the occasion.

Indeed, Denzel Dumfries enjoyed a superb game on the right flank.

The same goes for Federico Dimarco on the left.

Both wingbacks were up to the task, alleviating pressure on Inzaghi’s defensive trident.

Unfortunately, Inter forwards’ showings flattered to deceive.

Mehdi Taremi failed to put Leipzig goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi to the test, while Lautaro Martinez’s form wobble continued.

The Nerazzurri captain had another night off despite working his socks off to help in the build-up.

Nonetheless, Inter collected three massive points to go alone at the top of the 34-team table.
