Napoli goalkeeper Alex Meret reportedly contemplates joining bitter Serie A rivals Inter Milan on a Bosman deal next summer.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInterNews, Beppe Marotta could exploit the Italian shot-stopper’s uncertain future at Naples to lure him to Giuseppe Meazza.

Meret’s contract at Stadio Diego Armando Maradona runs out at the end of the season.

Despite Napoli’s best effort to tie their first-choice keeper down to a new deal, they’ve yet to find a breakthrough.

Indeed, negotiations have hit a standstill, paving the way for Inter to take advantage of the situation.

It’s no secret the reigning Scudetto holders are in the market for a new goalkeeper.

Josep Martinez swapped Genoa for the Nerazzurri in the summer.

However, he has played second fiddle to Swiss veteran Yann Sommer and is still waiting for his first appearance.

Inter’s initial plan was for Martinez to fill Sommer’s shoes in 2025/26.

But they seem to have deviated from that idea.

Meret’s contractual wobble at Napoli has presented Marotta with an ideal market opportunity.

Indeed, known for his standout negotiating skills, the Inter president could approach the 27-year-old in the coming months.

Soon to become a free agent, Meret has been phenomenal this season, helping Antonio Conte’s team stay at the top of Serie A.
