Inter Milan are tracking Bologna striker Santiago Castro after the Argentine’s excellent start to the season.

This according to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, via FCInterNews. They anticipate that Castro would already cost far more than the 15 million that Bologna paid for him.

Castro signed for Bologna during the January transfer window of last season.

The Argentine did not necessarily cement a place for himself in the Rossoblu starting eleven right away.

The outstanding form of Joshua Zirkzee meant that the Dutchman remained the regular starter.

However, Bolgoan sold Zirkzee to Manchester United in a big money summer move. And that has opened up a spot for Castro.

The Argentine has grabbed that chance with both hands.

Inter Tracking Bologna Striker Santiago Castro

Despite how important of a player Zirkzee had been for Bologna last season, the Emilian team have not felt the Dutchman’s absence too much.

Castro has made himself indispensable for Bologna since the start of the season under Vincenzo Italiano.

That has not just been because of Castro’s goals.

The Argentine has chipped in with four goals and two assists so far this season.

But there has also been Castro’s linkup play and defensive workrate. In that respect, there is a comparison to be made to current Inter captain and fellow Argentine Lautaro Martinez.

For that reason, therefore, it is perhaps little surprise that Inter are currently considering Castro as a potential target. Particularly considering his familiarity with Serie A.

However, Castro will not come cheap, Mediaset notes.

Bologna payed a fee of around 15 million to sign Castro from Velez Sarsfield. But they’d expect a lot more than that for him now that he has proven himself in Serie A.
