Inter Milan are back on double duty between Parma in Serie A this evening and next week’s Champions League outing against Bayer Leverkusen.
Today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, highlight the Nerazzurri’s return to fighting on two fronts.
Inter have had a rare “week off” over the past few days.
Following last weekend’s postponed Serie A match against Fiorentina, Inter have not played in the Champions League or Coppa Italia.
Moreover, that match against La Viola lasted only fifteen minutes due to a shock medical injury to midfielder Edoardo Bove.
Therefore, the last full match Inter played came last Tuesday against RB Leipzig.
Inter Back On Double Duty With Parma & Bayer Leverkusen Showdowns On The Way
This relative period of rest is not going to last for Inter, though.
This evening, the Nerazzurri host Parma in Serie A. And then on Tuesday it is a trip to Germany to face Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen.
Neither of these matches will be easy.
Despite being on only their first season back in Serie A, Parma have already taken some impressive top flight scalps in the form of AC Milan and Lazio.
And there will certainly be no underestimating Xabi Alonso’s formidable Leverkusen side.
But in the league, Inter will feel they have virtually no option but to win. They are four points behind Napoli and three behind Atalanta in the table – albeit with a game in hand.
Giving themselves any more catching up to do could be fatal for Inter’s title defense.
In the Champions League, meanwhile, Inter are in a better position. They are second in the “league phase” table, having won four and drawn one match.
But any dropped points could quickly turn up the pressure on Inter’s last two “league” matches.
