Inter Milan could face the likes of Manchester City and Bayern Munich in the FIFA Club World Cup knockout rounds.

Today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, detail the potential opposition for the Nerazzurri in the round of sixteen of the tournament next summer and beyond.

Yesterday, Inter learned the three teams they’ll face in the group stage of next summer’s Club World Cup.

The Nerazzurri drew the likes of Argentine giants River Plate, Mexican side Monterrey, and Urawa Red Diamonds from Japan in Group E.

That is hardly a group that Inter will underestimate. But at the same time, the Nerazzurri will feel that they can get out of the group. And be the favourites to top it.

Man City & Bayern On Possible Inter Club World Cup Path

If Inter are to top their group, they’ll face the runner-up from Group F. That group contains the likes of Borussia Dortmund and Fluminense.

The Nerazzurri could view Brazilian club Fluminense as manageable opposition in the round of sixteen.

Then, on paper, the likeliest quarterfinal opposition for Inter would be Premier League giants Manchester City.

And in the semifinals, meanwhile, Bayern Munich would look to be the strongest team that could possibly come face to face with Inter.
