Sebastiano Esposito jokes that while he’s happy for his brothers Francesco Pio and Salvatore scoring, his goal was better.
The Inter Milan-owned Empoli striker spoke in a press conference after his team’s 4-1 Serie A win over Hellas Verona today, via FCInterNews.
Today, all three Esposito brothers were on the scoresheet for their respective teams.
The trio all came through the Inter academy. And they have all had their own separate journeys into senior football.
Striker Sebastiano is at Empoli on loan this season. It is the 22-year-old’s first ever loan to a team in Serie A after a number of spells in Serie A and abroad.
Meanwhile, Salvatore Esposito is currently at Spezia. He joined the Ligurian team in January of 2023.
Then, Francesco Pio Esposito joined his brother at Spezia in the summer of 2023. He spent last season on loan at the club. And then decided to remain there for another campaign this time out.
Sebastiano Esposito Jokes After Scoring On Same Day As Salvatore & Francesco Pio
Sebastiano has done well for Empoli so far this season.
The Inter-owned striker scored the equalizer in a Coppa Italia triumph over Fiorentina during the week.
And then today, the 22-year-old was on target twice as Empoli beat Hellas Verona 4-1 in Serie A, a major result in the relegation battle.
Meanwhile, Francesco Pio and Salvatore were also both in action today.
Spezia faced Cittadella in Serie B. And both Esposito brothers were on the scoresheet in an emphatic 5-0 win. This was another big result in their bid to return to the top flight.
Salvatore, in fact, scored a brace just like his brother.
Sebastiano commented on the great day for the three brothers. “We haven’t spoken yet,” he said.
“Although I’ve seen their goals,” the 22-year-old said, before joking, “they’re definitely not as good as mine!”
“Seriously, though. Obviously I’m very happy for us all.”
“I’m happy with my brace,” Esposito said. “I worked well in training during the week, and I think the goals are the fruits of that.”
