Inter Milan are laying the groundwork to sign Racing Club defender Marco Di Cesare.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews. They report that a move for the Argentine next month would be off the table, where Jaka Bijol is the real target.

22-year-old defender Di Cesare has emerged as a defensive target on Inter’s radar.

The Nerazzurri have reportedly  already contacted the young defender’s agent.

Di Cesare has impressed since making the move to Racing Club from Argentinos Junior.

And Inter have recently shown that they rate the prospects of defenders from the Argentine top flight with their signing of Tomas Palacios.

Inter Laying Groundwork For Marco Di Cesare Signing – But Bijol The Target For January

Inter have a positive rapport with Di Cesare’s club Racing.

And there is a €13 million release clause for the 22-year-old – albeit one that will become €15 million in January.

Therefore, Inter know how much they’d have to pay to sign Di Cesare.

But according to Tuttosport, the Nerazzurri’s plan is not to try and sign the Argentine right away.

Instead, Di Cesare is a more long-term target. Possibly for next summer transfer window.

But there is one player in particular who Inter have their eye on for January, as they consider making a big defensive reinforcement with Stefan de Vrij and Francesco Acerbi aging and injury-prone.

Tuttosport report that Inter are considering a swoop for Udinese defender Jaka Bijol. They could offer players going the other way as part of a deal.
