Fernando Orsi jumps to the defense of Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi who received some heat for his part in the 6-0 demolition of Lazio.

On December 16h, the Nerazzurri entered the Stadio Olimpico clash as the slight favorite on the odds of the most reliable online betting platforms, including BetBrain.com. However, no one had imagined such a large result, one that went straight into the history books.

The reigning Italian champions started the match on a slow note. In fact, it was the home side that appeared to have the upper hand in the early going, but Tijjani Noslin was wasteful in front of goal.

Nevertheless, the floodgates opened for the visitors when the VAR spotted a handball on Samuel Gigot. As usual, Hakan Calhanoglu made no mistakes from 12 yards, sending Ivan Provedel the wrong way.

Just a few minutes later, Federico Dimarco smashed the second to give Inzaghi’s men a healthy cushion before halftime.

After the break, Inter picked up from where they left off, with Nicolo Barella scoring the pick of the punch. Denzel Dumfries was having a wonderful display, and put the icing on the cake by scoring the fourth.

Carlos Augusto then came off the bench to add his name to the scoresheet. And finally, Marcus Thuram rounded off the carnival by boosting his Capocannoniere chances and scoring his 11th of the season.

For their part, the Lazio supporters kept cheering on their team until their final whistle.

However, some of them were left irritated by Inzaghi who showed little mercy for his former employers.

The 48-year-old spent more than 20 years with the Biancocelesti between his playing and coaching career.

Former Lazio Goalkeeper Fernando Orsi Explains Why Inter Coach Simone Inzaghi Wasn’t At Fault

Therefore, some of the fans felt the manager should have instructed his players to take their foot off the gas pedal and avoid a humiliating result.

Nevertheless, Orsi insists Inzaghi has done nothing wrong. The former Lazio goalkeeper didn’t see any disrespect in the coach’s touchline demeanor.

“Respect in football is shown in another way,” noted the 65-year-old Rome native in his interview with Radio Radio via FcInterNews.

“Respect certainly isn’t when you stop playing or tell the team not to score anymore. Inzaghi has not disrespected anyone and has not denied his past at Lazio.

“He is not to blame, but he deserves credit for having won a match in that way,” concluded Orsi.
