Mehdi Taremi seized the opportunity handed by Simone Inzaghi to consolidate his status at Inter Milan amid a rough patch.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInterNews, Taremi reassured the Nerazzurri manager with a brilliant performance against AC Milan.

With Marcus Thuram injured, Inzaghi partnered the 32-year-old up with Lautaro Martinez in the Supercoppa Italiana final.

Despite the skepticism surrounding the Iranian after a dismal start in Serie A, he was exceptional in Riyadh.

Indeed, after setting El Toro up for Inter’s first, he netted only his second goal for the club early in the second half.

Unfortunately, Taremi’s vintage display wasn’t enough for the trophy.

Milan’s triumph cast a shadow on Taremi’s scintillating showing.

However, it was a sign of resurgence, something Inter could use in the remainder of the season.

Taremi’s return to form could be critical now that Inzaghi’s men battle two teams in a breathless Serie A title race.

Inzaghi has overly relied on Lautaro and Thuram to shoulder the scoring burden this season.

But if Taremi can maintain this level of performance, he could ease the pressure on Inter’s primary forwards.

Nevertheless, he’ll likely return to the bench in the upcoming league encounter against Venezia.
