Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi admits that Fiorentina “fully deserved” to beat Inter Milan, and takes responsibility for the loss.
Inzaghi spoke to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews, after his team burned out to a humiliating loss at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.
There was no silver lining for Inter in this evening’s Serie A match against Fiorentina.
This was both the worst performance and the worst result for the Nerazzurri this season. And certainly one of the worst since Simone Inzaghi took over as coach in 2021.
Inter had the chance to draw level on points with Napoli at the top of the Serie A table.
But after an uninspiring first half, the Nerazzurri completely fell apart in the second in Tuscany.
Inzaghi: Fiorentina 3-0 Inter Milan “Deserved Loss – I Take The Blame”
After the match, Inter coach Simone Inzaghi didn’t mince words or try to defend his teams.
“We got the match completely wrong,” he said. “We were lacking absolutely everything, we deserved the loss.”

“Congratulations to Fiorentina,” the Nerazzurri coach continued.
He admitted that “We didn’t react well.”
“I’m the one who takes all the blame,” Simone Inzaghi then said.
“But we need to analyze this,” continued the Inter coach. “This is not the time to blow it out of proportion, although it’s a loss that hurts.”
“But this team doesn’t end with this loss,” Inzaghi emphasized.
“The last time that we lost in the league was four months ago.”
“Now we have to face Fiorentina again,” the Inter coach noted. The two teams meet again in the league at the San Siro next Monday.
“I don’t want to look for excuses,” Inzaghi made clear. “We didn’t do what we usually do on the pitch.”
As far as how much of a blow this loss is to Inter’s Serie A title hopes at this stage, Inzaghi said that “Trying to rank the favourites at this point is pointless.”
“The only thing that can get us past this loss is work.”
The Nerazzurri coach then stressed again that “Out of the last seventeen matches we’ve had fourteen wins and three draws.”
“Tonight we were lacking everything to win. They had an injury crisis, but they were more aggressive than us and deservedly won.”
“We weren’t up to par technically,” Inzaghi added. “We moved the ball too slowly.”
The Inter coach noted that “Fiorentina defended well, and then they hit us on the counterattack.”
“Then after they scored, we weren’t able to stay organized.”
“We go home wounded,” Inzaghi admitted. “With our heads down.”
“But I only know one thing to do: work.”
“There are still fifteen matches to go and 45 points to play for. That’s a lot.”
“The team will get back, stronger than before,” the Inter coach struck a defiant tone.
Its unbelievable how many people with mental issues are here…. It s just a defeat, a game lost.. Thats all it is… We look a bit vulnerable comparing with last season, but the squad is the best in seria A and most probably if was not Conte coaching Napoli probably will be sitting 1st in the table… I m more than happy with our team, all the players are exceptional
This is exactly what a team without a proper ownership looks like. It all resembles Thohir era. Oaktree don’t care about Inter.
I don’t know is it right to put all the blame on Simone, since he got limited team at disposal. The only thing I can complain is not pressing oponents on their own half. Also, we never press in the midfield. Whenever the oponent team has the ball in possesion, instead of biting and pushing them instantly, we ratreat to our box and wait for them to do whtever they want to do. We are giving them too much space to operate. Moreover, we never put preasure on oponents goalkeeper. Pressing the gk can cause them to make mistakes which can be punished, but for some reason we don’t do that.
Management of inter can’t live and die with free signings!!!!! Inter need very few pieces compared to everybody else. You need a fast stricter like Thuram, a creative midfielder to put Mikhatrian on the bench because he is way past his due to be a starter .. I have no idea how a player like fratisi plays for inter the guy is so poor on the ball, not intelligent almost every time he has the ball he makes the wrong play !!! That’s it 2 or 3 pieces will make this team unstoppable
i do not think it’s as much yours to blame as is of the management. inzaghi has never been supported in the market. every year bilan, merda, all other teams refresh their squad, while we are bargain hunting without really planning well. we desperately need some world class youngsters if we want to be competitive on three fronts. the same 11 can’t be playing every 3 days and we cant expect them to be on top form every 3 days. getting Jonathan David would be a statement, hope oaktree sees this.
This team need quality players beyond the starting 11. No one from the bench 8s able to change games when they don’t go our way.
Also the club is to blame for the disgusting low to no investment since the summer.
Poor performance for sure. But really, one game cant say Inzaghi is bad. With this squad, I would say it is a very good job for Inzaghi. This season Thuram is on fire from the start and now he is a little bit quiet, Lauti is worst form and now is getting better and back to his form, Barella is solid, Chala is not back to his form yet after injury, Miki is not doing bad, Dumfries at his top, Dimarco not bad, Bastoni still at his high level, De Vrij is at his best, Pavard,Bissek are not consistant, Sommer is at his best. And we dont have a good second team since Frattesi still cant find his role in the team, Zielinsky sometimes looks he is adapted, but more time are not to his Napoli level. Taremi and Anautovic no comment……..So what exactly you guys dream about from this team? Champion league winner? Serie A winner? At a chance maybe but no need to over confident thinking we should win everything. Inzaghi does a wonderful job so far.
to conclude your words is, oaktree as owner to blame here.
That was- without question- the worst performance of the Inzaghi era!! Absolute shambles tonight!!
Going forward, one thing Inzaghi will have to adapt to is playing younger players, if Oaktree ever actually invest in any!!
This team is too old, and other managers are soon going to realise that a simple 4-4-2, with energetic players, completely neutralises us!!
We need some youth, pace and flair!!!!!!!!!!
The only old, lonely and depressed is you… The team is absolutely perfect, there all at their peak, like 27y old… DeVrij is 33 but I’ll take him anytime, anyday in front of the young Bisteck…. MIKY maybe is old but what his offering on the pitch is much more than Fratessi or Asslani that are younger… So relax is just a defeat, a cold shower…nothing is lost yet
if one notices, after a dismal performance, we hear the same rhetoric words. WE ARE SORRY, WE ARE HURT, WE KNOW WHAT TO DO NEXT TIME, AND YET, THEY REPEAT EVERYTHING, THAT IS THE MISTAKES, APPROACH, DISPLAY AND AFTER MATCH PHRAISES. UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!!!!
Thought you might have had the decency to crawl back under your rock, after making a complete idiot of yourself last week…. I believe you said I was semi retarded, for suggesting it was a risk to throw Hakan straight back into the team…. Hakan, who looked rusty AF, and gave the ball away for Milans goal, before losing possession for Fiorentinas second goal last night…. That alone tells me everything about how much you know about football!!
My main issue with this new comments section, is that I can’t find a way to block you, you fkn dimwit!!!
Mr coach, your wings have no creativity, just back pass possession, they are afraid to move and dribble their opponet, it has been a long time comming – no investment!
In that match it was very apparent without Dimarco who can at least cross everyone else will simply just pass back and keep useless possession
