Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi has decided to start Davide Frattesi in midfield against Fiorentina. This evening’s postponed Serie A match kicks off at 20.45 CET.
Inter take on Fiorentina in Serie A this evening. The match will be a bit of an unusual one, however.
Fiorentina and Inter kicked off a Serie A match at the Stadio Artemio Franchi at the start of December.
However, that match was temporarily abandoned due to a shock medical emergency for Viola midfielder Edoardo Bove.
But the two teams will finally play out the rest of the match today.
Firstly, that means that the match will begin at the time the fixture in December abruptly ended. Therefore, the time on the clock will be seventeen minutes.
Furthermore, players who signed in January cannot play any part, either from the start or as substitutes.
Therefore, there are no January signings in either Inter’s or Fiorentina’s squad. Wingback Nicola Zalewski misses out for the Nerazzurri, accordingly.
On the other hand, players who were injured in the December match but registered for their respective teams are available.
Therefore, Benjamin Pavard, Francesco Acerbi, and Carlos Augusto are in the Inter squad.
Davide Frattesi Starts In Midfield – Augusto & Bisseck Also Start
As far as Inter’s starting eleven, firstly it is Yann Sommer in goal as always. Therefore, he keeps up his record of starting every Serie A match this season.
Then, in defense, Yann Bisseck takes the place of Benjamin Pavard from the derby against AC Milan.

The German completes the back three alongside Stefan de Vrij and Alessandro Bastoni.
In midfield, meanwhile, there is another notable change to the eleven. Davide Frattesi takes the place of Nicolo Barella.
Meanwhile, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Hakan Calhanoglu keep their places from the derby.
Then on the left flank, Carlos Augusto gets the nod ahead of Federico Dimarco. And at right-wingback, meanwhile, Denzel Dumfries starts.
Lastly, in attack it is the usual starting duo of Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram for the Nerazzurri.

Approve – 1st comment
The more this match is analysed the more ugly it gets Inter were supposed to play the match with the mindset that if they win they go top yet. Inzaghi decided it’ll be a good time to play with known clowns such as Arna and Aslani, I’ll take a one legged Hakan over the two combined. Before the goal both Augusto and Dumfries were dummies of highest order passing backwards as if they won 2-0 instead of pushing forward and deliver a cross
Told ya in November were done this.season

Hmm
congratulations for all naïve fans!
can you get it for God’s sake! what we have done versus big names in the league even UCL? how many points are dropped? Milan! Juve, Napoli, and now Fiorentina! we should play with Napoli and Juve in their home! so simply it is over! it has been oved since summer! this squad has lost his competitiveness!!!
1. Tired after derby. Thuram was tired.
2. Hakan is not fully fit yet. He hasn’t found the rhythm after the injury
3. Fratessi didn’t offer anything. Fiorentina’s ‘park the bus’ system limited his space. He can’t provide creativity like Barella always does.
4. Bisseck’s bad day = lost/draw. You know what will happen when he can’t mark his opponent. It’s been like that several times this season. Against Milan, Juve, and Genoa this season.
5. Not really Inzaghi’s fault. He gave rest for Barella, Pavard, and Di Marco. The game against Fio this weekend is much more important than this. But yeah, you will also be complaining if he puts Taremi, Arna, and Aslani instead of the starter players.
They were both important and we just played our hand and now are relying on help from elsewhere.
Unfortunately we all knew Napoli would be very hard to stop this year but it’s so frustrating once again when it’s such poor lackluster performances and odd coaching decisions that cost us instead of just giving it a real go and being bested on the night.
Stupid me. I thought this was a Coppa Italia match. Dang.
The only explanation for this performance is that team’s age and super packed schedule, which could have been avoided if we had a much younger, energized bench.
well well well..
all are tired
I think the good thing is Inter will have the opportunity for revenge soon enough. Today the only players who actually tried were Lautaro and Bastoni. The amount of back passes was getting ridiculous. Before Dimarco came in no one was really willing to cross forward and taking Bastoni meant that responsibility was passed to Dimarco who was very well marked. There’s a reason Taremi Arnautovic and Aslani are among of the worst performance players this season. They were never going to make a difference. Inter never really get going without even creating chances instead they just tried to keep useless sideways possession unless the ball reach Dimarco or Bastoni who tried to go forward.
Turo was trying. Bastoni was just as sleep walking as the rest of the team. So many miss passes and slow decision makings.
Quite embarrasing to watch. The team looks uinspired and is extremely stationary, Inzaghi do all the wrong changes. We must be one of the worst teams technically. Not to mention all the balls we give away by trying to do difficult things. What is the point of having 93% passing accuracy when 85% of the passes are between our cbs and def mid. Honestly its good for us to loose big tonight, maybe the team will finally open their eyes, and admit that we have to perform 100% in every match, no matter the opponent. This is professional football after all.
Oh and how’s the search for a decent comments section coming along?!
And Sommer was extremely poor today
Not as poor as bisseck
Bisseck? Was he even playing?
lol
I’d have preferred not tbh
if not Sommer, we would be down 0-1 in first half already. He blocked the Kean’s close header.
They simply overran us tonight. They had 4 shoots on target, 3 went in. We had NONE- ZERO- NADA!!
These replayed games are always our killer. this is embarrassing.
Well…. I’m struggling to defend anything about the coaches decisions today – but wow what a general lackluster display from ALL.
It’s not like fiorentina were surprising either we knew they could play.
The lack of investment hurts too, when you see Milan clearly improving and buying exciting attacking players
Tough day at the office guys
I suspect than in coming years we will fall behind Milan, Napoli and maybe Juve too. They are investing money. Milan have room to invest due to being good with the balance sheets. Napoli will have the millions of Kvara+Osimhen ready to spend in the summer. What about us? We will likely go for free/cheap transfers. Our debt will probably suffocate our competitive edge sooner than many people think.
just to think we had our full strength first team available. while fiore were playing with their c team and without a bench!
painful performance
In two games we conceded 4 goals and scored 1
Out of 6 points we got 1 points.
This is beyond embarrassing and the fact that we only got one wingback while Milan, Lazio, fiorentina and juve got several players shows our owners lack ambition.
Asslani is useless, mhikky is finished, aurna is a clown, Sommer is overrated and old, and they should all be replaced. I won’t be upset if we also changed manager (which I know won’t happen)
The problem in midfield is not Mikhi. He is 34 or 35, he is supposed to be a bench option to bring in experience and maturity in certain situations. Not his fault that Inzaghi uses him like a peak player.
The problem in midfield is that Frattesi and Asllani are not Inter material. They are not suitable even as bench options.
Congrats Fiorentina for winning Champions League!!!
I’d rather have Inzaghi and these players than have Lazio or Juve’s or top players with another coach.
I don’t get it with all the comments saying “Not Inter Material”. We are not like 30 years ago when Moratti could buy Ronaldo, R Carlos, or Batistuta. These are the players that Inter could buy with their economic situation at this point, sadly. You can’t expect Halland’s quality with the money you spent to buy a player like Arna.
There’s no perfect team. There will always be an outlier player in one team.
I’ll take this loss if that means we can go through further in UCL and win another scudetto this year.
This loss means we have less chances to win the Scudetto, not more.
Lord arna deserves contract extension
He will actually get it. Inzaghi actually thinks he’s going to come on in one these matches and actually score but the guy is an actual clown he simply can’t score unless it’s a tap in
bound to happen.. all our players are just tired. there’s no energy left. no suprises. thanks oaktree for strengthening our Primavera, rather than our first team.
LOL What is this. When was the last time we lost 3-0?
And… no clean sheet for Sommer today. Wow 3:0. Long time Inter did not lose with deep result. Wow! Napoli smiling.
i hv said thiis time without nuba, the wings need upgrading, they are nt bombing foward with crosses for the strikers to score. there is need for speed and foward dribbling , bcos, when slow the flow, you allow opponent to reset – hidden problem!
Well. At some point someone will punish you from constant back passes because you want to keep possession.
Solointer, time to give up. Napoli winner.
Arnautovic…. what a joke!!!
Not 1 player has played decent tonight… should be absolutely ashamed of themselves after this! Banter era level performance!!
Goodnight
it would be a miracle if inter can draw level let alone win this match with this kind of play. Inter never win from trailing position this season. Now inzaghi put a desperate formation by throwing 4 strikers ??
Aslani will score 2 bicycle kick in last 5 mins LMAO
needs 3!?!
The good thing of this is Napoli wins not Juventus. 🙂
Congrats to the oldest team in Serie A and CL.
Your players are tired as it was expected.
So a couple of days ago, team said the goal is winning the champion league….. Please, dream is good but be step by step can work on how to perform consistently first. Every team who won the league or champion league, has to be very consistent versus every single opponent.
They can say many things, but the technical difference with the likes of Liverpool, RM and Barcelona is big. To win the UCL, consistency is of paramount importance. If they can beat Napoli to the Scudetto, it would be enough to satisfy the fans, given the overall performance so far this season.
Congrats to Napoli for the scudetto they have won it by 90% now.
Just look at our games, including serie a, coppa and ucl…. Then look at Napolis once a week fixtures in serie a for the rest of the games they have and you’ll see.
We don’t have a squad to compete in two major tournaments and Inzaghi as always can’t make proper subs, fiorentina is decimated this game, they are missing 8 players!!!! Still they are destroying us with our full squad.
It’s 95%
Feels like we’re playing with a man down
I imagine Conte with a broad, evil smile right now.
This team with this performance would lose to any team tonight.
I don’t get it why they are so weak and shaky this season. OK they are not the best team in Europe, but they should still beat these teams.
Not 1 single shoot on goal. This is Embarrassing.
Damn, I thought we are leading by the way the ball moving……………….
I will never understamd how Mkhitarian can play first 11 -.- Frattesi never showed any good game. But sure, let Adlani amd Zielenski on bemch, let those two useless guys play
Why can’t we send more crosses..too much damn passing around the box. Send the damn ball in
Have no idea why keep Frattesi on the field. He is barely making any positive impact this game. I dont understand…..
Now come the subs. So reactive, should have done this even before the first goal. At this point they need to reflect, coach and team. Two games in a row that they look off. Disappointing. Not season ending but clearly some adjustment is needed.
Frattesi is staying on? he is useless against teams that set up shop
Nice one, Moise.
All this possession and we are doing nothing. They are barely doing anything but scoring
Absolute shambles…. subs should have been on after the first goal!!
Ok now subs are a must. No need to try to save energy. Take Agousto and Frattessi off
And Chala
WHAT A JOKE!!!
Why no subs yet? Clearly the starters are not working properly.
Where is Thuram? Where is Denzel?
Why is Bastoni too slow? Why Hakan is not shooting anymore? WTF is wrong with this team tonight?
Congratulations again, Napoli. Only miracle will give us Scudetto.
You do realize we still have to play Napoli… If we win, not only would we have the fixture advantage, but we also have goal difference advantage.
Back passes are so ANNOYING.
This is what happens every time he starts. Awful player, never so anything special about this guy
inter always fail to capitulate an opportunity to take over the 1st position
This is not the performance of a team that can go top of the league with a win!! We fully deserve to be behind!! We’ve been playing at walking pace all night!!! SUBS NOW!!! SORT TBIS MESS OUT!!!!
Fighting mentality is not there. Not sure what happened with our team during the weekend.
it would appear that 4-4-2 is our kryptonite!
The goal was coming. Inter were just passing back like they’ve already scored. Now they must go forward and actually try to score
Hakan is too slow today. Bring is Zelinsky or Barella.
Maybe our boys need to try shooting from outside the box.
Frattesi is not making any impact to this game, need to be subbed.
Inter must use their advantage and actually run down Fiorentina because they have no backup. Dimarco is a must with his crosses because Augusto is too scared to cross. Dumfries needs to wake up and actually be alert in attack instead passing backwards at every opportunity.Frattessi is the right option because he will go inside the box and try to score and resting Barella is crucial
Agree 100%
Good to see you contributing to our discussions Agha Nima
Very bad half from us, are we gonna wake up for the next half???
We need to win this game!!! Fiorentina is missing several players through injury and suspension, they will have them back in next game.
Time to sub in Di Marco and Barella. We play too much on the side and a little from the middle. Let’s get the win!!!
hate this team they flop so much and dont think they ever commit a foul. Fans are the same way, clueless buch.
Not a great half, and another frustrating disallowed goal…. I wish that they would go back to clear daylight for offsides- the advantage should be to the attacker! We want to see goals-not constantly have them chalked off!!!
Barella and DiMarco are the obvious difference makers on the bench- let’s nit leave it too long before we bring them on!!!
Dont think they can come on, They were subbed from the last game. Pretty sure since they have been replaced it counts as a sub and we have 3 left and they only have one left
Don’t think that’s right… why would they be on the bench?
Because they’re not injured, Think about it, This is just the continuation of the game already started not a new one. Those two have already played in this game they can not come back in after being replaced, anyone replaced in the starting 11 counts as a sub. Thats why fiorentina were panicking when they’re player went down, they only have one sub left after selling players and replacing Bove.
At least thats what i think would be fair but they’re both warming up so maybe im wrong.
Spot on. Very frustrating
Augusto hasn’t delivered even an attempted cross. Which is the problem with him only Bastoni now can deliver crosses Dimarco must come on
This offside made me angry. 3 offsides against Milan. How many this evening?!
not looking good at all……………….
Sommer been pulling of some great saves in recent games, not sure if im happy for it or not
Hope they decide to go with the new offside rule for next season. This isnt football
Offside strikes again!!!! Damn!!!!
That’s a nice volley.
Augusto!!!!!!!
So we are discussing internally how to introduce a live comment section for matches only.
We just had to get rid of Disqus. Now we are working on enhancing the Match Day experience. We have a couple of options we are looking at.
Thanks for your udnerstanding.
I still don’t understand this “We had to get rid of Disqus”. Not once have you explained this beyond “We had to” or “It’s a long story”.
IMO this will, or already has, killed the community.
I think you guys are underestimating, greatly, what value people found in the prior system.
Agreed. The comments platforms should also allow users to like comments. One should not need to write a comment to show agreement with another user’s comment.
Agree 100%. Not happy about this either I assure you. Sorry for inconvenience.
Our internal affairs are not appropriate for public debate and discussion. You’re just going to have to take my word for it when I say we had to get rid of it.
Just like when I say that we are looking at different options to introduce a live match day chat function.
We had to get rid of Disqus. It was a decision not taken lightly. And it was either this or nothing. Those were the options.
I cant and wont get into it any deeper than that.
Again, sorry for inconvenience caused but we are working on it.
You are right. Hard to not see an external offshoot recreate something similar to what we all love and have become accustomed to – not excluding that the new plans could work – this creates a definite void and someone might be willing to take the matter into their own hands. Maybe even me, as I actually had the domain and all to publish my Norwegian Inter-site some years before we won the treble!
Live comments are definitely needed! It’s impossible to watch the game properly, while constantly having to refresh the page… On the upside, I’m hoping that a couple of so called ‘fans’ will have moved on to somewhere else while it gets sorted!!
Agreed re live comments. This is not ideal but we were literally faced with this or nothing so chose lesser of two evils.
I’m prepared to wait… been on this page for years (although under a different name on disquss)- still the best website for Interisti…. hope you can find a solution…
Thanks man! Appreciate the support & kind words.
1:0 or 5:4 is enough for us to take first place. Forza Inter .
Black and blue hearts missing. Anyway let’s win this.
Wish we had the full 90… not into this starting from 17 minutes in lark!! Especially as when the game was stopped (And rightfully, everything was about getting Bove to hospital) VAR was in the middle of trying to decide whether the ball had gone out of play, just before Martinez scored! we never got the answer, so we should possibly be staring 1-0 up anyway!! Nevertheless, this is the hand we’ve been dealt, so let’s get the win, and get ourselves back on top of the league!! Then we’ll see how Napoli deal with that pressure!! C’mon boys, let’s get this done!!!
Agreed. BUT Fiorentina are decimated. Like barely have a bench
Yeah, they’re definitely weaker than the first time round… let’s hope we take full advantage!!
100%!!!
