Roma Sporting Director Florent Ghisolfi says that the Giallorossi were close to signing Davide Frattesi from Inter Milan in January.
The executive spoke to the Corriere della Sera, via FCInterNews. He also hinted that the capital club could make another move for Frattesi at the end of the season.
Throughout last month, the transfer rumours linking Frattesi to Roma were incessant.
Reportedly, the 25-year-old is unhappy with his relative lack of playing time at Inter. Therefore, he wants a move to a team where he’d start regularly.
And for their part, Roma certainly consider Davide Frattesi to be a target in midfield.
In the end, the Giallorossi were unable to convince Inter on a deal for Frattesi.
The Nerazzurri did not want to sell the Italian international in January. Therefore, they held out for a very high fee for him.
Moreover, Inter were not interested in the possibility of a player-plus-cash offer, possibly containing Bryan Cristante.
Ghisolfi: “Roma Were Close To Signing Frattesi In January”
Davide Frattesi will be an Inter player until the end of the current season.
But there is a sense that the lack of a transfer in January has not exactly closed the book on the former Sassuolo midfielder’s situation.

For his part, Roma Sporting Director Ghisolfi wasn’t hiding it. “We worked on a deal for Frattesi,” he said. “With him, with his agent, and with Inter.”
“We were close,” Ghisolfi said of a deal for Frattesi.
“And in four months we’ll once again see whether it’s feasible for us to sign him.”
“Either him or another midfielder with the same qualities,” the Giallorossi Sporting Director hinted.
