Francesco Acerbi delivered a sterling performance to help Inter Milan defeat Fiorentina 2-1 in last night’s Serie A fixture.

According to TMW, Acerbi was among the standout performers in Monday’s clash at the San Siro.

Back to the starting XI for the first time since November, Francesco Acerbi showed no signs of rustiness.

On the contrary, the 37-year-old excelled.

Indeed, he dealt with Fiorentina striker Moise Kean with relative ease.

After netting a brace last Thursday, the 24-year-old barely had any influence on the game last evening.

That was mainly thanks to Acerbi’s tight marking.

Simone Inzaghi played Acerbi from the start for the first time since a 5-0 rout of Hellas Verona in November.

Despite conceding from a dubious spot kick, Inzaghi’s charges repelled Fiorentina from open play.

And much credit goes to Acerbi, who fared outstandingly against Kean.

It was a fitting gift for his 37th birthday as the veteran continues to shine despite approaching the end of his career.
