Marcus Thuram is in a battle with time for tomorrow’s Serie A clash between Juventus and Inter Milan.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They report that the backup plan if the Frenchman cannot start would be Mehdi Taremi.
Over the last week Marcus Thuram has been recovering from an ankle problem that he sustained in Inter’s last match.
The problem is not a serious one for the 27-year-old. He took a blow to the ankle during Monday’s Serie A win over Fiorentina. But there’s no underlying injury.
However, that knock was enough to force Thuram off in the first half of that match against La Viola.
Marcus Thuram Giving Everything To Be Fit For Juventus Vs Inter Clash – Mehdi Taremi Backup
According to the Gazzetta, Marcus Thuram is giving absolutely everything to be fit for tomorrow’s Derby d’Italia match.
Clashes with Juventus are always among the biggest of Inter’s season. They are well aware that nothing can be taken for granted in the Derby d’Italia.

Moreover, the pressure to win is massive in the context of the title race. Inter go into the weekend a point behind Napoli, who face Lazio this evening.
Therefore, if there is a match that Thuram would not want to miss, it’s tomorrow’s.
However, there is still not guarantee. Thuram will test out how he’s doing in today’s and tomorrow’s training session.
If the signs are positive and Thuram gets the green light, then the Frenchman will certainly start against the Bianconeri.
But on the other hand, if Thuram cannot start then it will be Mehdi Taremi who gets the nod. The Iranian would partner Lautaro Martinez in attack rather than Marko Arnautovic.
