Former Genoa owner Enrico Preziosi feels he played a key role in helping Inter Milan clinch the famous treble in the 2009/10 campaign.

The Nerazzurri enjoyed the most prosperous campaign in their history under the tutelage of Jose Mourinho.

The Special One proved to be the ideal manager to guide this well-oiled machine towards glory. One could say Inter hit the jackpot by appointing the Portuguese. Speaking of casino games, make sure to check out Kiwislots where you can win real money without spending a cent.

During that glorious campaign, Inter successfully defended their Scudetto crown while also winning the Coppa Italia. But more importantly, they clinched the Champions League trophy by beating Bayern Munich 2-0 in the final in Madrid.

At the time, the Beneamata’s squad was packed with stars all over the pitch, players who were at the time at the peak of their powers.

Walter Samuel and Lucio were impregnable at the back, while Maicon was a menacing force on the right flank. Esteban Cambiasso was also integral in the middle of the park, while Wesley Sneijder added his brilliant touch in the final third. And let’s not forget about the iconic Javier Zanetti who could cover several roles.

Nevertheless, Inter’s three triumphs all had one thing in common: Diego Milito scoring decisive goals.

The Argentine striker may have been a late bloomer, but he enjoyed an absolutely stunning campaign as he spearheaded the Nerazzurri’s charge towards glory.

Inter had only signed Milito in the previous summer following a second stint at Genoa. Moreover, the Grifone also sold Thiago Motta to the eventual treble winners. The current Juventus boss also went on to cement himself as a key figure in Mourinho’s middle of the park.

Enrico Preziosi Believes He Played An Integral Role In Inter Milan Treble

Therefore, Preziosi, who was Genoa’s owner and president at the time, believes Inter still owe him for his part in their historic campaign.

“The Inter fans still own me for Milito and Motta,” joked Preziosi in his interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport via FcInterNews.

“Without those two, they would not have won the treble. There has always been sympathy in my management.”

“I often meet Inter fans who bring up that deal. Moratti invested a lot, I had lunch with him and Mourinho and told him that those two phenomenal players would bring him the Scudetto.

“We didn’t talk about the Treble but I made a bet with Moratti: Milito and Motta will score least at 20 goals. Only Diego scored 30.

“What did I win? A handshake. We hit it off right away in the negotiation. I had Bonucci’s card inserted, whom I had seen once in Ascoli.”
