Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi has decided to start Marko Arnautovic and Mehdi Taremi in attack against Lazio. This evening’s Coppa Italia quarter-final clash kicks off at 21.00 CET.
This evening, Inter Milan take on Lazio in a mouth-watering Coppa Italia last-eight tie. The last time that the Nerazzurri and the Biancocelesti met, it ended in a 6-0 rout in Rome, in the Serie A.
For Inter, this evening is a chance to reach the Coppa Italia semi-finals for the fifth time in the last six editions.
Meanwhile, Lazio will be out to enact revenge on Inter for a catastrophic loss in December.
Moreover, this will be Inter’s final warm-up ahead of Saturday’s Serie A top-table six-pointer against Napoli.
Therefore, it is little surprise to see Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi name a mixed starting eleven.
Mehdi Taremi & Marko Arnautovic Start In Attack – Lautaro Martinez On The Bench
Striker Marcus Thuram is not fit for tonight’s game. The Frenchman has yet to shake off an ankle knock that he suffered in a 2-1 win over Fiorentina.
Therefore, Thuram is on the sidelines for this evening’s match.

Accordingly, it is Mehdi Taremi who starts for Inter. The Iranian international leads the line alongside Marko Arnautovic.
That means Nerazzurri captain Lautaro Martinez drops to the bench.
Otherwise, though, there are few surprises.
Firstly, Yann Sommer remains on the treatment table as Josep Martinez starts in goal.
Then, in defense Stefan de Vrij gets the nod ahead of Francesco Acerbi after starting on the bench against Genoa last weekend.
Flanking De Vrij in the back three are Benjamin Pavard and Yann Bisseck.
Meanwhile, in midfield, Hakan Calhanoglu and Nicolo Barella make way for Piotr Zielinski and Kristjan Asllani.
Furthermore, Davide Frattesi completes the midfield rotation in the starting XI.
Lastly, on the flanks Matteo Darmian and Federico Dimarco start, with the former replacing Denzel Dumfries on the right.

Bravo. keep Mehdi Taremi in the starting lineup. He is a key player who is fast becoming crucial for bringing wins for inter. His assist against Barcelona was a game changer to take inter into the finals. His last game brought penalty resulting in a goal and help the team win. His assists are as good as scoring a goal. When he plays he is a marked man by several players of the opposing teams creating opportunities for other inter players to become unmarked and open to score. Keep him on the starting lineup. He is only going to get better and reach his optimum qualities
Today, I felt Frattessi and Taremi played really bad. Turns out, both of them are having the minor injury and they just hanging there to play. Probably not best players of today, but definitely two fighters.
Zielinski is absolutely class… His a ball station, ball distribution, he never ever loses the ball, Hakan world class.. what oaktree are talking about? They want young players??? Fck that… Our players are absolutely class… I don’t need another Asslani, after 3 years his absolutely rubbish… His scared to move forward, all he does is to pass back… fratessi good bye my friend, you’re not inter material… Roma give us the money so we can buy Nico Paz
Is Nico Paz not young then? Of course we need young players! We have the oldest squad in Europe… they can’t go on forever!! The key is to buy the right young players….
I don’t care we have the oldest squad… It’s very functional, the best in Italy… We already have the young players….. Bisseck, Palacios, Topalovic and this new Croatian guy
Yes, and a few more wouldn’t hurt… a striker or 2 for next season, and a new Centre Centre back….
What???? How many more do you want?man.. Come on… stop thinking about the future… Let’s focus and enjoy this season.. We are still in all competitions in March
Good win while resting key players for Napoli!
Two games and 2 clean sheets for Martinez! The lad is looking good!!
People asking why Arnautovic was taken off are missing the obvious- Thuram isn’t fit, so Arnautovic will probably start against Napoli!
People asking why Bastoni was brought on for DiMarco… Well, as Darmian went off injured, and Augusto and Zalewski are unavailable, what do you expect??
When I say people, I’m pretty much referring to you, Paulo! Your weird hatred for Inzaghi is baffling! I’d love to know who you think would do a better job on the same budget?? We are enjoying our most successful period since 2010, and yet all you do is complain… try enjoying the fact that despite not being at our best, we are top of the league, in the semi finals of the Coppa, and are the only Italian club left in the Champions league… Not bad, for a clueless, Overrated, tactically naive coach!!
I agree on Inzaghi does a really good job part. The other part no comment. Well said buddy!
Once again Inter finish the match with arguably the best midfield in the league (Barella-Zielinski and Hakan). Opponents just can’t keep control of the match because Inter would naturally find spaces forward. By far best performance from Arna and Correa seems to express himself better whenever he plays as for Taremi he stills needs to find himself but his shots per matches is very low for someone who plays upfront which his main problem. Napoli now knows they won’t be facing a weaker Inter team anymore and it’s them who will have to think on how to stop Inter from scoring
Martinez ball handling is good! I feel he is a bit suspect with the ball at his feet. Correa did more today than taremi! arna was good! all bisseck doubters can eat humble pie!!
Nice win, boys!!! Keep it up!!!!!!!!!
Winning while resting key players for the Napoli game. I am happy with how Inzaghi handled this one.
Paulo will say that Inter won in spite on Inzaghi. He never gives Inzaghi any credit; unless Inter lose, then it’s all Inzaghi’s fault.
I give credit – when it’s due.
And by giving credit you also give criticism.
for example – today, he made some odd decisions
But they paid off. We haven’t played well but we’ve got the win and on a day like this that’s all that matters.
Now as for taremi …… I’d rather a primavera get a chance.
You never give credit, despite it being more than due!!
This could be a pen
Stupid from DD
key of this winning is the calmness of the players even some of them looked useless, and the discipline of our defense.
best player would be zilienski
Right up until that moment I was somewhat impressed with josep – but WTF was that?!?
He’s a very lucky boy
calha nice one
Correa, what a dribble!! what a crossover!!!
Nice move by Correa to get that pen.
So we are playing 4 CB now?!
wtf is that ?
It’s not a back four – it’s like a back 6 with zielinski at LB
I swear inzaghi is just trolling.
I can see them winning this from behind late on …..and nobody could say it was undeserved.
Have you ever hade a happy moment in youre life?
Why on earth did you take off Arna and leave Taremi who did absolutely nothing!? Inzaghi logic = Take off the good players, play the losers 🙂
And what formation / tactic is he using?
The guy is sooooo overrated
Who cares about formations and tactics. Give me the win, that’s all that matters. And guess what? Inter wins under Inzaghi. So, you can keep calling him overrated all you want, Inzaghi will keep leaving his mark with Inter.
exactly! the only real over rated coach in serie a is cunte!
:)))))))) haaaaahhhhhaaaahaaaa:))))))))))) a primavera in attack :))))))))) we have 5 experience strikers that we pay them huge salaries… You not gonna see a primavera in attack this season not even for 20 seconds
why inzaghi subs arna but keeps useless doremi?
because arna seems more promising for napoli
Taking arna off and leaving taremi on is pretty disgusting…..
At least we have a 3 man midfield now though lol
Asllani wearing an inter jersey is just disgraceful
at this point Vecino or Galgiardini are better than him
I don’t think he’s quite that bad, the difference is everybody knew gags was terrible
With asllani the club keep telling us he’s good and that’s even more of a worry.
It takes a lot for me to give up on anyone wearing the black and blue, but Taremi is beyond useless!! would like to see De Pieri given half an hour….
Zielinski is a baller. Keeping him on the bench is a waste the way he just find space is unbelievable and his precise forward passes opens up defending teams especially when they try to press him
He is the only player who is able to keep the ball and occasionally dribble past opponents.
What a goal. He did a Djorkaef.
taremi has been hopeless today.. doesn’t seem interested. even fratessi and aslani looked better.
probably the best goal of Arnautovic’s career!!! What a strike!!!
That’s a great goal
Now thats a damn shot!!
Wowzers
What a shot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
wow arnautovic
taremi too much loses the balls.
bisseck looks unmotivated.
but, we are Inter supporters, so hope they are all improving and can win this match.
come on! forza Inter
Their keeper looks pretty nervous… We should be shooting whenever we get within 25 yards of goal…
good call
Why were we playing with 10 men for 3 mins should have been able to make an immediate sub ♂️
Also taremi trying his best to give them the ball in our box many many times
Why is he so deep ffs
asslani not helping. now get yellow
Lazio are taking this seriously!! very strong line up… Could be a busy night for Marinez in goal- excited to see how he does!! Coppa is the least of our priorities, but it’s a good chance for a few players to show what they can do… hopefully see some of the primevara stars in the second half… FORZA INTER!!!!
Not really. Their starters and benchs are just of similar quality, unlike us
wtf is this team? we should have played our primavera instead. Lazio gonna take revenge for the 6-0 today! gonna be hard to watch. need to have my drink pre match today rather than after..
This is gonna be a rough watch.
Asllani, bisseck, taremi, arna
Essentially can’t see goals coming from anywhere other than maybe frattesi but I can’t see us having much of the ball tbh, lazio are decent and they are taking it more seriously than us.
Bisseck has had one bad game… He’s still a quality player!!
Yeah ok lol
He’s half ok at making forward runs, but positionally defensively he’s pretty abysmal
Couldn’t agree less….
Inzaghi would better put him in Thuram’s position instead of doremi.
Inzaghi never learns smh….. We cannot and I repeat Cannnnootttttt play without Hakan AND Barella, one can be missing but the other have to play. We can’t score when both are missing because ASSlani can’t do nothing but side passes and frattesi plays like a CAM.
We need to win this at home come on Inter!!!
It’s clear Inzaghi prioritizing the Napoli fixture, as he should given its importance and the injuries.
For the reserves it’s up to them to show what they are made of. Either deliver or leave in the summer.
Just like you should give priority to finding a new comments section
It takes a lot for me to give up on anyone wearing the black and blue, but Taremi is beyond useless!! would like to see De Pieri given half an hour….
Let’s go boys! Some players need to stand up now!!
Watching this match is going to be a pain in the a55. I hope we will win this but it wont be easy when we have 2 sh**y forwards upfront.
