Inter Milan defender Carlos Augusto is pushing to be back fit for next week’s Champions League round of 16 first leg against Feyenoord.
This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
Inter Milan have been without wingback Carlos Augusto for the last couple matches.
The former Monza wingback picked up a calf knock during Inter’s Derby d’Italia loss to Juventus earlier this month.
And that has prevented the Brazilian from playing in matches against Genoa in Serie A. He also missed Lazio in the Coppa Italia.
Moreover, Augusto is set for at least one more match on the sidelines.
The Corriere confirm that the Brazilian will not return for this weekend’s top-of-the-table Serie A clash with Napoli.
Carlos Augusto Pushing To Be Back For Feyenoord Vs Inter First Leg
However, a return should be in sight for Augusto, reports the Corriere.
Saturday’s match against Napoli will be too soon for the 26-year-old. However, it should only be a few days after that.

Inter take on Eredivisie team Feyenoord in the first of two legs of their Champions League round of 16 tie on Wednesday.
That will give Augusto a few days in which to return to fitness.
According to the Corriere, there is optimism that the Brazilian international can be ready in time.
That would certainly be a big boost for Inter coach Simone Inzaghi. Right now, he’s dealing with a full-blown injury crisis in the wingback positions with Matteo Darmian and Nicola Zalewski also out.
Meanwhile, the versatile Augusto also bolsters the squad depth in the back three.
