Simone Inzaghi could change up the formation for Inter Milan against Napoli due to an injury crisis in the wide areas.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They report that the Nerazzurri coach could switch to a 4-4-2 shape.
At the moment, Inter Milan have a full-blown injury crisis in the wingback positions.
Nerazzurri coach Inzaghi can count on his two first-choice starters on the flanks. Federico Dimarco and Denzel Dumfries are fit.
However, behind those two, there is currently zero depth.
All of Matteo Darmian, Carlos Augusto, and Nicola Zalewski are unavailable against Napoli tomorrow.
Inzaghi Could Change Formation For Inter Milan Vs Napoli
These injuries at wingback are particularly problematic for Inzaghi because it is normally a position where the coach likes to change things up within matches.
The wingback role is a very physically demanding one in Inzaghi’s 3-5-2 system.

Therefore, the Inter coach does not typically have players player for ninety minutes in the position.
But there would be very options for Inzaghi to take Dimarco or Dumfries off and freshen up the team.
Against Lazio in the Coppa Italia on Tuesday, the Inter coach made a switch to a 4-2-2 shape in the second half.
And according to the Gazzetta, Inzaghi would consider something similar tomorrow.
With the personnel at his disposal extremely limited, the Inter coach may decide to change things up.
