Piotr Zielinski started ahead of Henrikh Mkhitaryan in Inter Milan’s 2-0 triumph at Feyenoord in the Champions League last night.
However, according to TWM, the Poland international failed to live up to expectations.
Zielinski has not had the season he had hoped for when he signed for Inter last summer.
After establishing himself among Serie A’s best midfielders at Napoli, he joined the Nerazzurri with lofty ambitions.
But it’s been a rough first year for the 30-year-old at Giuseppe Meazza.
Piotr Zielinski Falters in Inter Milan Win vs Feyenoord
Simone Inzaghi handed Zielinski a rare start this season yesterday evening.
However, the skilled midfielder failed to repay that trust.

Despite assisting Lautaro Martinez for Inter’s second, Zielinski’s performance was below par.
Things would’ve likely been different had he put away the penalty midway through the second half.
Yet, Feyenoord goalkeeper Timon Wellenreuther read him like a book and managed to thwart his effort.
With Inter bidding to extend a single-point gap on Napoli in Serie A, he’ll likely return to the bench against Monza on Saturday.
