Yann Sommer could regain his place between the sticks at the expense of Josep Martinez in Saturday’s game between Inter Milan and Monza.
Per Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInternews, the Swiss veteran is 100% fit after recovering from thumb surgery.
Simone Inzaghi couldn’t count on Sommer in the last two Serie A matches against Genoa and Napoli.
Furthermore, Martinez was in goal against Lazio in a 2-0 Coppa Italia win.
Last but not least, he kept a clean sheet in an identical triumph at Feyenoord in midweek Champions League action.
Yann Sommer to Displace Josep Martinez in Inter Milan vs Monza
Despite registering three shutouts in four appearances, Martinez could surrender his place to Sommer.
However, the Spaniard’s impressive form has convinced the Inter chiefs of his capacity to succeed the ex-Bayern Munich star.

Meanwhile, Yann Sommer has recovered much quicker than expected but stayed on the bench at De Kuip.
Yet, he could be in goal as early as tomorrow, even though Martinez did everything to earn a more prominent role.

Hmmmm…. not sure how I feel about this… Sommer has been brilliant- way better than I thought he’d be when we signed him…. however, Martinez has come in and been brilliant also! 3 clean sheets out of 4, and the only goal he conceded was an unfortunate rebound after a brilliant point blank save! Plus, Martinez is way superior at commanding his area, and brilliant at coming out for crosses!
If Sommer is put back in, he’d better be at his best, and going forward, there needs to be a degree of rotation, to keep Martinez involved…
