Antonio Cassano feels that striker Mehdi Taremi is not good enough for Inter Milan.
The former Italian international criticized Taremi on the Viva El Vutbol podcast, via FCInterNews. He argued the Iranian will be sold his summer, and that Marko Arnautovic is the main backup striker at Inter.
Iranian international striker Mehdi Taremi joined Inter Milan last summer. He arrived on a free transfer after his contract with Porto expired.
There were big expectations for Taremi, despite the fact that he signed without a transfer fee.
And in the Iranian’s first couple months as an Inter player, there were certainly positive signs.
However, Taremi has never really managed to leave his mark.
There have been some solid enough performances in front of holdup play. But the 32-year-old has not looked sharp in front of goal, and has very rarely managed to find the back of the net.
Cassano: “Mehdi Taremi Not Good Enough For Inter Milan”
Mehdi Taremi started for Inter Milan Tuesday’s Champions League round of sixteen second leg against Feyenoord.
In that match, Cassano argued that “Inter played on autopilot, at 30%.”

“To say that they were in total control would be an understatement,” he continued.
“Now you have to explain to me how Milan lost to Feyenoord, who are not a terribly good team.”
And Cassano was critical of striker Mehdi Taremi’s performance.
“I’ve been saying right from the start that I’m not crazy about him,” the former striker said. “I think that for next season, they’ll sell him.”
“And they’ll also get a bit of a capital gain,” Cassano said. Taremi did arrive on a free transfer, so any transfer fee would be a profit in that respect.
“Because he’s not a player good enough for a top team,” Cassano further argued.
“It was a transfer opportunity. A smart signing.”
But the former Italy international argued that “The real first choice backup in attack after Thuram and Lautaro is Arnautovic.”
Cassano called Arnautovic “a real player, who I like a lot.”
I think he talk too much!! he loves to talk down about any player from Leao to taremi & ..!! Really don’t understand these people!! Inter won because of the penalty that Taremi got for us & the worst thing was that they didn’t let him take his shot & not only they take the opportunity from him but also talk dirty too!! Hakan didn’t need to take that shot but Taremi needed it & would definitely score just like he did for the whole time in Porto & never missed one! he should have taken the other penalty on previous game too but they let Piotr miss that shot! Just think of these two shots & you will see how easily table would turn & Taremi had 2 goals already in two consecutive matches!! he barely gets a chance to start & usually they let him play the last 10_15 mins & expect a miracle when everyone is either trying to hold a point or defending?? plus his teammates are not passing him the ball!! Dumfries could easily pass him the ball but again, he shot the air! they rather to shoot the air or … but not passing the ball! BTW, how many shot Thuram & Lautaro have missed in front of the goal?? And they both play the whole 90 mins or close to that & have all the supports!! for the time he gets to play & the injuries he still suffers from & the minimum support that he gets he has done a hell of a job!! How dare this guy says he is not a big team player when he was number one goal scorer for 2 years in the row for Porto & was a Puskas nominee for that bicycle kick goal against Chelsea??? Taremi had so many options from big teams & preferred to come to Inter & this is how you treat him??? that’s brutal, inhumane & scandalous!!! you should be ashamed!! instead of asking the team to support him more & play like a team & give him more time, just because you get a mic you think you can say whatever about whomever??? that’s so low !! this is not what this sport is been about & that’s not how you treat Champs!! this guy loves to talk about Cristiano Ronaldo too & that’s shamfull!!
Taremi is one of the greatest player & he always have helped the team in anyway he could because he’s such a selfless player & definitely needs more playing time & Support!! And please let him take his penalties!!! He was the reason inter won the game & he deserves acknowledgement & appreciation not some nonsense from a guy who likes to talk low about everyone & you guys should stop being their advocates!! instead focus on positive people & real thinkers!! be fare & honest, atleast to yourself!! people understand who is who!!
Last, Taremi will always be a champ regardless where he play, let’s appreciate what we got & help him shine like what he did for Porto!!
Best
I think you like Taremi lol
you’re right!!
great comment. fully agree.
I agree with you… he’s been treated really unfairly. The little time he gets he’s doing decent work. We gotta remember that the coach wants certain things from him when he only plays for few minutes. Mainly to hold ball and link up. He should have took those penalty shots and let his confidence boost up. With those his stats wouldn’t even be bad at all for someone that barely plays. If you ask the inter players, surely they’ll say good things about him. A lot of people that make comments don’t really understand football and think it’s all about scoring. Yes goals are important but that’s not the only thing a player contributes. I do think they will sell him though just to make some profit but I hope he doesn’t go to Arab leagues even tho Saudi at this point is pretty competitive but due to his age he should do at least one or two more years in Europe and retire in Middle East
Also let’s not forget recently he revealed the entire season he’s had minor injuries and been playing on pain killers
